File sharing question

I dont really understand all the detail about 'scenes' and 'groups' and this big underground thing of track sharing. Things like this rules here - http://www.trancefix.nl/showthread.php?t=81205

It a;l seems so serious for just some dance music to be shared for free, its like a business with strict rules and laws! Why all the details when no-one is making any money? Why all this - WEB or GRP and huge codes and NFO filesand stuff? :tuktuk:

The NFO file contains details about a release such as lenght, size, quality, release date, etc. This in combination with the name of a release group like TSP guarantees the file is genuine and of a certain quality, which is especially important in this scene filled with rips, reencoded tracks and boring generic trance. The huge codes you are talking about are ASCII images, not codes ;)

Well, I too can't see why all these scene groups are delivering free music, but I'm very grateful for it.
