Results of course are pretty typical, I expected so.... glad to see at least two songs I loved from this year in the top (one I didn't vote for, being limited to five choices). I feel rather misplaced about voting for Lost though--even though I loved the song, was listening to Mentalita the other day, one of the most amazing tracks for me this year. So painfully true...the "armin whores" as I like to call them, who basically love ANY tune that armin plays a lot on asot because armin is their hero :icon_mrgreen: To them any track that isn't frequently appearing on asot is crap, while anything played on asot is amazing. If he played scooter then they would love it too no doubt!

As for your second sentence. Sure there are still die hard van Buuren fans who have been following him ever since his show aired for the first time. But I'm 99 % certain that most have moved on to other genres or other radio shows. Whenever you find a discussion about ASOT there will always be replies like "he doesn't play trance anymore or he only plays cheesy, etc.".

i have to disagree with that comment, hardly anyone that has been into trance long enough and heard ASOT from its inception, is still supporting it...its way too comercial and supporting so many tracks that i can't even begin to call trance....i wish DJs/Producers will stop bringing pop/rock into trance.

i religiously listened to ASOT every week up until about 2 years ago when it became so apparent to me that the quality of the once "banging" ASOT has degraded....IMO at this point ASOT should be a 2 hour show a month, there is simply not enough quality tracks out there to make a 2 hour show every week.

This poll received about 240 votes... that's out of 3,187 active members (though let's assume a small number of those--say, 500--actually post). And a large number of the votes (I wouldn't say quite half, maybe a third at least) are from new members, not long-time ones...

Certainly not to say new members' input is any less valuable, but for everyone who's been part of TF for a long time who aren't satisfied with the results (ESPECIALLY the ones who didn't vote themselves)--could have made a lot of difference if more long-time members just took the time to participate. :sad:

It's a well known occurance that popular things, no matter if it's actually good or bad, get bashed. Some people can't take that something they like isn't 'special' or 'underground' anymore and start hating, some people just can't take the masses liking something in general.
And yes i know it's not that black and white but i'm sure you get the point ;)

BTW; i've been an avid trance lover for 10 years now and still support and enjoy AvB/ASOT (of course it has it's ups and downs, pro's and con's). Does that make me a noob with no taste of music?

Surely there are some ol'timers around but the main part aren't people who tune in every week to A State Of Trance nor is it people who has been following him through his whole carreer.

I never said "all" by the way.

I've actually got a perfect example which explains exactly how fanboyism or worshipping (if you will) works - thus which kind of people attends an event like Armin Only. The trance scene in my country, Denmark, has been sleepy since 2002. Tiësto played here for no less than 25.000 people @ our national stadium in 2007. Tickets were sold out and it was the place to be that night - in fact clubs had a hard time finding DJs to play that night because they were all attending this event. I didn't want to miss out as I've always had a good time at the Tiësto gigs I have attended so I went with a few good friends. The people that were there, most were there cause they wanted to party and because Tiësto is a rock star. That night people were screaming, dancing and having a good time. But the sad thing is that people went home that night, woke up next morning and tuned into that same old cheese radio station listening to mainstream bollocks. 5 % or less of the people who attended that event were truly passionate about trance music. That said, it doesn't really bother me.

What I'm trying to say is that events as big as Armin Only or Tiësto on his EOL tour goes way beyond the A State Of Trance radio show or online forums.

Where the F is Lavkastor - E3??? C'mon.... Why does everybody always go for like the monotonous, played out trance tracks. Like Breaking ties, Maor Levi mix is way better then the Analogue Heaven mix.. Its sounds like every other track out there. Where's Anton Firtich - Rain Over The Ocean.. Where's Headstrond Ft. Shelly Harland - Helpless (Mike Foyle mix), like shit. All these tracks have some true originality to them... Not just the same old stuff.. This list is very disapointing..

Thanks for the effort that went into counting the votes (BV) and putting together the mix. I think it's a better list than the ASOT top 20 (although some of my personal top #5 didn't make it). I knew the more commercial tracks would still come out on top though.... ;)

not my top 25 but it's ok....though it's always the same with these toplists: all the new tracks seem to count more than the older ones from january or february for example....seems like it's because it's easier to remember the newer ones :D:D
