What about sharing more genres on this forum?

I don't think the admin really likes the idea of really doing this but im just wondering how you guys think about sharing more genres here?

As a test ive just made a new thread in the download section sharing a House cd...

If you would like to share/download more genres then pls tell me which ones!

I`ve got alot of different styles of vinyl sitting on a shelf.
There`s happy hardcore, hardcore, spanish techno (makina), hardhouse, hard dance, techno, hard techno, hard trance and hardstyle.

So if anybody wants any of those shared on this site just give me a shout and I`ll sort em out!

it would be gr8 to share also electro, like the drill - the drill, that still being considered as trance.. what i mean is to stick to trance roots..

some songs also like techno are also considered trance, like advanced from marcel wood, or omnia (TECH-TRANCE REMIX) from Jesselyn

Well simply NO i don't like 2 see other genres here...coz really that's the trancestation like mobi said...And the majority here just like trance with all its genres (maybe some progressive house that wont hurt :x_hypocrite: ) no really bcoz some ppl here already share many pop trance and techno and hardstyle which really isnt its place AT ALL!!!
And sometimes i download this stuff coz i dunno all the names and u gotta see the look on my face when i listen n find out that's techno i just downloaded :evil: ... Anyways... NO DONT SHARE ANY OTHER GENRES!!

in my opinion this board should be a trance board. if you want other styles you have to look for other boards. i don't know any great trance board like this one. i am for 100% trance :redbull:

Wow, i really didn't expected a "no", for sure not a no with such a big difference!

We could keep the forum in the same structure only add somewhere another menu:
Others

The Others menu could just be one section containing all the other genres and different kinda posts (like singles/live sets/albums) being posted which aren't Trance.

Just a small list of stuff ive seen which is no trance and still people are happy to see it being shared.

We've started to sort this forum more and more and imo all the threads which aren't Trance should be moved to a logical section OR be deleted.
As i see quit some replies in most of the above named shares i don't think that people would like the "deleting" option.

Once more: what's wrong with other genres in a different section?
If you don't like it you don't have to visit it and atm still stuff which isn't trance is being shared in the trance section so if we would make a new section it wouldn't bother anyone in the current (trance) sections anymore.

actually tribalism0 u put it in a way that really convinced me,r u a salesperson or something like that? :D Now i agree to what u proposed,coz really that would be the only way 2 prevent seeing techno,funky house and euro trance genres in the singles section,coz that really pisses me off,and at the same time not deleting what some ppl might like 2 have...but that would be on one condition only,that's the person who's sharing this stuff has 2 know the difference between trance,dance,electronic,techno and house (coz believe me many ppl consider any edm as trance) or that u or wesley check the shares on a daily basis 2 make sure that each genre is in its place...Anyways that's really a gr8 idea for 1.we won't deprive the ppl who like this kinda music from what they like and 2.for all of us who dont like this stuff we simply dont open that section...nice idea (mainly nice explanation) tribalism0 n i'm with u 100% :icon_thumright:

I have question: If let say someday a Trance DJ turn into House or vice versa then shall we put into Trance Section or Other Section? That way u have to listen or get info of the track to put into the right section.

well, you should become politican. your post makes sense and i can't say anything against your plans. honestly, i can't differ all the styles of trance and imo everyone has a different definition of trance. that makes it difficult to differ between all the edm genres. but with only one section it will work.if you add only one new section for all other genres of edm it will not become to complex.

Imo the tracklist is the key to sort posts then, ofcourse IF it is a live set.
I think that if there would be only a small piece of trance in it then it shoud belong in the trance section... otherwise too many people would miss the share.

really.. one of the best things in life is experiencing new things... so also new music.
Plus yeah, i would love to make big archives of like happy hardcore, typical german rave, typical uk hardhouse, various hardcore, and even pop like coldplay etc.

One thing which we should really be carefull with is the copyrights story.
Specially now this forum is getting bigger and bigger every day.
I already got some pm's from producers asking to delete their stuff.
Now they are still politly asking but it could be different aswell ofcourse.

So my idea for the future would be some kind a protected section and a public section, in the public section maybe sharing mainly live sets and the rest in the protected section.

I voted against the seperation of genres tribalism0, i respect all other styles in Dance and not just trance..

I am new to this forum, only been on a couple of days and i have to say its a very nice and simplistic but yet very effective forum..

I was a big user of livesetsonline.com & also admin on my friends clubbing forum. On both of those forums and on many others, the download section is spilt into genres which is a obviously a good idea because as we all know it keeps it well seperated and easier to use BUT....

When I discovered lyrics.trancestation.nl just last week, i had a warm feeling whilst browsing through and reading post and topics, and it struck me hard that this forum was filled with great trance threads, not only the fantastic music that was being posted but also the people who post on here are devoted to there trance and discuss there love for the tunes & style in a touching way.

I know there is other forums out there that are similar but not many out there that i personally have came across, especially mostly dedicated to trance..

If you split it into seperate genres, obviously there will be more traffic for the forum which is good but it will also bring in a lot of leechers imo, which brings me back to my point about lyrics.trancestation.nl almost being like a trance family forum, i say that because it seems like everyone on this forum are in one big family when discussing and enjoying shares etc, if the genres all split, i think lyrics.trancestation.nl will lose its close nit feeling..

What you could possibly do is... split the Trance sections into there various Genres with-in Trance.. i.e

Prog/ Euro/ Tech/ Hard/ Melodic/ Vocal/ Psy/ Electro etc etc

Just an idea, that could maybe get confusing too :huh:.. lol

Apologies for ranting on but i really dont think you should split the genres, it has its positives and negatives, tough choice i guess..

Hmmm well it's not really splitting the genres as you say r9sublime, it would only mean adding a new section named something like "Other genres".
So still there's a logical place to share other music then trance.
And yes ofcourse we all mainly love Trance so adding the new section wouldn't mean any changes in the trance part of the forum.
I perosnally don't like the idea of splitting the trance sub genres.
Imagine a live set played by Tiesto, one part classic trance, one part prog and one part some harder style.. so where to share the set?
Just an example..

Still im convinced a small section named other genres wouldn't harm the forum, it would only mean we could sort the threads more logical and share only the best of other then trance.

Well i wouldn't mind sharing other than Trance, in the end we're working for the EDM scene.. we can create a new section called "other EDM" ..

I think it will educate people more about EDM in general and then they can know how to differenciate between trance, house and techno... Lot of people do not know the difference!

to be honest i'm not too fond of the idea of creating different sections within the singles section.

The reason for this that the site is dedicated to trance music, and I tend to keep it this way.

Might also be an idea to mark the topic title for those who are another genre then trance.


I can however, make one subtopic where people can throw in all other styles as been suggested.

Summed up you defininately have to take a stand soon. Because its annoying with a big ol mess of different genres in the Singles forum. You really loose overview of it all.

Either you make some subgenre forums, or you see to that all house, dance etc. gets deleted - in my opinion.

Just one new section: "Other Genres".
And you can put all your stuff there, assuming it won't be THAT much.

I've yet to find a site that has club mixes of pop songs and stuff.
It varies from tribal to house, i'm sure other DJs here like that type of music.
Djs like Ralphi Rosario and Jason Nevins.
