Hi all!

Since there are millions of live-sets for download, and thousands for sale on cds, I think it would be interesting to know which live-set(s) you can recommend (which is your all-time favourite)? When I get your opinion, it will be much easier to find quality stuff!!!

So, please let me know your favourites (live-sets within the trance-genre: melodic, hard, progressive etc)?????????????

The best trance life-set I've ever heard is : Menno de Jong - Intuition (i can't remember the rest of the title, but I could say that every set of Menno is special and sophisticated...)... I really recommend his music... (soft trance I suppose)
Sets of Marco V are very good too, for example the set which he played in November in Arena in Poland:P

Best live show I ever went to was Daft Punk at Coachella. It is one of the best DJ sets ever but I am sure that PvD or Tiesto(his earlier stuff) had the best DJ set ever. Daft Punk was probably one of the best live shows ever only second to Crystal Method and Kraftwerk.

I loved Tiesto when he came to the Mansion in Miami this past March. He spun for 8 hours straight! The live vocalist was a bit of a let down when they paraded her out for a spell, but all in all it was a great location and great music....probably since he was trying to promote his latest ISOS. Crystal Method has had a couple crazy live shows, and Darude has been really good the couple times he has come to Seattle. The one who surprised me and let me down was Oakenfold when he came to Seattle in 2001. He seemed a little flat and wouldn't finish his builds. A shame since he was one of the originals to turn me on to the electronic genre in the first place. I really enjoy the live shows though, and wish I didn't work so much so I could catch them more often than once in a bleu moon

Yep I just love this set! It still sounds fairly fresh even today! I went out and bought all the tunes in that set on vinyl (and now I don't even spin vinyl!) And of course Tiesto @ Trance Energy 2000. That set got me into Tiesto in fact, the only problem was I heard it in 2004, 4 years too late dammit! But that set has so many classics! The only bad thing is the idiot MC yellin over the top of the build-ups, tosser. I think it has to be that bald goon that follows Tiesto round like a bad smell.

Tiesto was awesome back in '99 / '00 if you ask me. The Innercity/Trance Energy sets were pretty much on repeat, together with ISOS1+2.

But. Tough competition but still no match for the Nu NRG@Orgasmatron set ^^

How about Ferry Corsten Live @ Trance Energy 2004 for one that is known.
One recent one that I hace personally been to was Ferry Corsten's as well in the States- Live at Element, Seattle 12/29/06 . His set blew the roof of. Played amazing new tunes one after another and had everyone going all night.

Which performance you heard live impressed you most? I've heard Markus Schulz twice @ Sunrise Festival and Creamfields this summer and i bet these were the best sets i've EVER heard :D I've also heard Ricardo Villalobos @ Audioriver and it was out-of-this-world too :p

I've heard too many brilliant sets to single one out, but one that does stand out is Alex MORPH & Woody Van Eyden at PaSSion, on the same night the first Live As Fuck album was recorded.

Granted they're not the biggest name DJs around, but I just remember that set being awesome. They were both messing around, trying to outdo each other with tricks and FX and the tunes were fantastic. It was around the time Life Less Ordinary first came out, and it was the first time I heard it in a club. It doesn't get much better than that.

Matt Hardwick, John Askew and John O'Callaghan were also playing that night (Matt's and John Askew's sets were recorded for the Live As album). All in all it was one of my favourite ever club nights.

Possibly Eddie Halliwell @ Coach in Banbridge, was my first time out clubbing ever, was 15 at the time.

He was promoting his BOSH cd, and played all the tracks from it, completely blew me away.

Aside from that, the both times i saw Armin were pretty special, and Kyau & Albert @ Trance Energy 08 was awesome too

Running through the pouring rain, absolutely drenched, Armin setting up an umbrella over the decks as rain was leaking through the tent roof. The lights short circuted mid way leaving only the lasers but my god were people determined to have a good time. Never felt energy like that before. Armin even blogged saying he'd experienced nothing like it and I understand why.

Best show ever was Lab 4 at Palais Royale in Toronto, Canada. Full live PA set, biggest crowd I've seen in North America for any electronic music let alone a live PA.
They had just played in Buffalo, New York the night before where Lez was to have borrowed my gear for the set because all of their stuff was held up at the US/Canada border. They decided they didn't want to chance it without their 2 huge samplers and made a DJ set out of it with Adam spinning just the most aggressive tech-house stuff I've ever heard this side of industrial- seriously old-school rave stuff!
They finished the set and apologized for having me truck my studio down to the venue to not be used and comped me for the Toronto show (which was a *lot* bigger and better a venue and crowd).
So I got to see them gratis in Toronto and hung around with them after the show! Definitely the key moment that made me decide to give producing a go of it.

2011? Not really imo. Or it depends what kind of music you want. This year has a lot of good techno, HS and HC+Terror sets but not trance.

Only good trance set (that had even little bit of trance tunes in it) heard this year was Fabio Stein's Decade Mix made in February. Lasts for 4 hours. :p

Best live trance set ive heard was Tiesto.. global 2008. He dropped Jamaster A - Bells of Tiananmen (Airbase Remix). Was by far the best performance of the weekend.

Second up is Marcel Woods - again in 2008. He started with 132bpm trance and over 2 hours the set just kept climbing all the way to the end and then he finished with Sol Ray & Dark by Design Paradise. The whole club was banging there feet on the floor when the music stopped at the end. Insane.

It's not trance but by far the best set that I have been live at was Marco Carola at Timewarp last year - there is something very special about Techno at 11:30 am after being out all night and seeing the crowd still loving it to bits. Probably one of the best moments of my life, the set was sublime and he has been amazing every time I have seen him since.

My fave trance set of all time that I have been too might be Leon Boiler, again last year at Grotesque, it was the first trance set I had heard for a while and so it was quite important to me! It's on the net somewhere.

Above and Beyond in 2008 @ Global Gathering was pretty epic and John 00 Flemming NYE 2007. Don't know if you can find them online but they are stand out ones for me. :)
