A new "Thanks" system has been born!

Hello everyone!

We have recently installed a brand new "Thanks" system. We've had a lot of people spamming short 'thanks' messages in a couple of (obvious) sections, which we really do not want. (It's even against the forum rules (http://www.trancefix.nl/misc.php?do=cfrules)).

To enable people to still thank the original posters in the affected sections, we've implemented a "Thanks" button, next to the usual (Edit) / Quote / Quick Reply Buttons. As you can also see in the pic below, people receive a 'Thanked' for every time they get thanked for a post, and a 'Thanks Given' when given a thanks. (this shows on the left hand side of posts, below your avatar).

You can also see how many people, and who thanked the original posters.

Please USE THIS SYSTEM, instead of making a short (useless) reply in the concerned threads. Those replies WILL BE deleted and posters WILL BE warned or alerted for them. Thanks ;)

PS.: besides 'thanks' and 'thx' other stuff like 'nice' 'great track' 'awesome' etc etc will be considered as the same sort of spam :) Just use the new 'Thanks' system if you just want to thank people. Otherwise you are free to reply with a constructive post :)

There's somewhat of a problem: Most spammers are newbies here, and they probably won't get it...

I've seen this tool in other forums too. Smart move by the mod team.
Though spammers still post their lame "tnx" or whatever. Already saw a few.
So, mods have to be on guard!

wow kinda a waste, i dont know what good exactly comes from this thing counter. i think it would be better to just make a filter so that when there is only the words: "thx" "thanks" "great post" exc in the post then it wouldnt post that guys post. maby something that makes you type at least 30 characters or something. now that would be usefull. it would take a load of the mods, or you just woundt need as many for warning/banning of users that do that.

The counter is nice for uploaders, they can see how many ppl have thanked them. Its kind of a reward for them :)

For every share, people can press on a - or + underneath the uploaders avatar and give a message in the reputation box, saying for which thing the person deserved a - or a +. Because mostly members steal links from other sites/forums and many ppl dont care about it , unfortunetlly (coz they are mostly all fuckin leachers)! That is stupid indeed. But there are people who download stuff from other websites and upload it again on their own so that they aren't stealing anybody's link. They just want to share stuff.

But the thanking option is pretty much the same as the reputation option. People get thanked for uploading something but it could also be a stolen link. Right?

2. I don't expect any kind of "pay off" when I upload, that's why I don't expect to read any "thanks" to myself. Yes, I do say/write "Thank you" when I see a nice download link, but usually in a PM.
3. If you want to show the ppl, that you've uploaded something by yourself, just put a pass to the archive - your nick, the site you're uploading it for, etc. I tend to do it lately, but sometimes do forget to put any pass.:tuktuk:
4. If I use any external link, I ALWAYS post the name of the uploader /check some of my posts/, but AFTER I HAVE ASKED for his/her personal permission.
5. Even it's not that hard to do it like uploading, finding useful downloading links is not very easy too.
6. After you test some software, or hear a nice tune, "If you like it - buy it." All of those producers/programmers/DJs...have to earn some money too. :D

You're right. Luckily I often buy records and have a huge amount of them. So I do support the producers/dj's. But software is a different thing, because that is so freakin' expensive. But if I would have the money I would love to buy the stuff.

You're right. It would also be a lot of work for the admins/mods to correct every -point which isn't deserved.

Its a huge difference mate :

Option 1 - Leach but also contribute to the forum in any possible way ... helping others , give some feedback , give some review , show some appriciation , join some discussions etc.

Option 2 - Leach ... just steal the links from other places , post them here and thats it . Nothing more!

What? I don't understand this, surely the only reason people post replies such as 'thanks' is to boost their post count so they can access the downloads? I know that's the only reason why I post anything here (except this message), however I do make the effort to post something with a little more substance.

I think most people aren't going to care if they thank the uploader or not, they'll just find new ways to boost their post count - such as posting replies like 'yes - this is a good idea' in this thread... :rolleyes:
