I love pics like these. Outer space's gotta be one of the most beautiful and intriguing places on earth...err... well you know ^^
Anyway, i'm pretty postitive that some day the human kind will be able to effectively travel through space, though i don't think we'll be able to beat the speed of light (and survive :P)
That is, if mankind hasn't destroyed this world by then :p

i'm pretty certain we'll travel faster than light. it might take us a million years to figure it out, but i will always be optimistic. i'm looking to the day in my life to see everyday people start colonizing and having pilgrimages in outer space. i'd definately do it.

Hmm well travelling with the speed of light has some scientifical aspects that are still quite impossible to imagine. For instance, do you think you'll see your self arriving at your destination? (Since you're there earlier than the light transmitting the image of you getting there) And what the hell will you see when topping the lightspeed. Will things go slower and slower 'til they stop when you reach the speed, and then go backwards? Odd odd.

Some of those pictures look photoshopped a bit btw, shame, 'cause that's not really needed ;)

i don't know if they're photoshoped or not, but this site http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/archivepix.html has all the one's i've already posted with discriptions too. i'm just trying to see how many people on here are interested in the subject? looks like it's just you and me sjagga.

i honestly think you wouldn't be able to break light speed and have the ability to even see, imo. unless we had the ability to process data within out minds quicker than the 24 fps that we currently do. we would probably need to process data 100 times more to even comprehend any perception of material speeding past us.

I am in an astronomical association in Madrid and this weekend we went to watch the sky by telescopes in the mountain, it was great! There are a lot of beautiful pictures of the universe in internet:

I red something (long time ago) about those pictures about our universe.
I maybe wrong, but the color of the picture is made after the picture is taken. The warmer the light is, the more the star is colored inblue. On the ohter side, if the light is cold, the star is colored in red.

Maybe, the pictures are taken with 3 colored filters. Then the pictures associated.

too bad we'll never get to see what it is really all about in our life time, such a shame.
