Dance Parade Rotterdam cancelled by authorities

The Dance Parade in Rotterdam, a massive event that draws over 400.000 party people to the city every year, has been cancelled...

The authorities have strict policies about parties after a bunch of hooligans threatened a police officer at a dance party last summer. One hooligan got shot and died after the incident.

After this incident, the local authorities took their chance and made strict policies for parties and now consider every event carefully before granting approval to the organisation. And so they have... Since, in the opinion of the authorities, "dance parties attract a different kind of crowd", the Dance Parade is no longer held in the city. In contrast, other parades like the Summercarnival parade are still allowed in the city, showing the decision's biased nature towards dance music.

The organisation of the massive party is now looking at different way of having this party anyway, but it will only be allowed at a closed area if extreme security measures are taken...
The question is not what we can gain. The question is what we can leave out. What's the essence?

It's not really about that. It's about the kind of event, a citywide dance event with history. And now that narrowminded blob of an Aboutaleb cancels it because of that mediahyped hooliganfest last summer. It's outrageous behaviour...

If it's just Aboutaleb then why not move it to another city? For sure other city are welcoming the city marketing etc.

its sad that some assholes got drunk or whatever and caused problems with police and caused it to be shut down.....but i dont agree that b/c of one situation like this, you shut down an event....thats silly.

That's a shame. In my experience, fans of trance and electronic music are usually the most pacifistic bunch of people going. We're usually too busy dancing, smiling a lot, hugging each other and having fun to get violent.

I'm sure the local businesses aren't happy about having 400,000 tourists not attending their city.

2 years ago in my country it happened sthing similar-.. even tough there was no shooting record, there was no way authorities would let the festival be

trance yeah ... all EDM ? whole debate going on around more hardcore genre but here and like always, it's always a minority who ashames the majority ... -_-"

for sure but ... on the other hands, forbidding such an event is always a way to start to insinuate into average ppl the idea that dance event =bad ppl = bad.. for instance in France, they did that in the 90's now ... if you say the word Trance it's like "oh, techno ? oh rave ? og DRUGS junkies and such omgggggggg girl you're evil" .. and the EDM turned into house only in the guetta's way, which is, hem, well. no comments

anw, i'm just saying .. yeah, sure the event will go somewhere else and always will find his way but IMO it's no good for the opinion of common ppl which is always bad from the freedom of partying wherever / whenever you like and also .. well, it's all good to those stupid hooligans : their goal is kinda achieved .. and the problem isnt solved at all !
