Radio Shows Section

okay there are some things that bother me about the radio shows section here. why do radio shows from the big names have their own subforum, while tons of other usually much better radioshows have to share one subforum ? and why the f*ck has tiesto's radio show its own section, just check the tracklists it has NOTHING to with trance at all !! my suggestion would be one radio shows forum with one thread for every radioshow.

One thread per radioshow will be a huge mess. Imagine all ASOT episodes in one thread..

I think it's logical to have the shows of the bigger names in seperated sub forums as well. Makes it easier to sort/search.

well let me explain what bothers me about the current seperation with those subforums for certain radioshows: for someone whos actually new to the trance scene it just looks like certain radioshows, which have their own subforum, are the interesting and important ones while those "other radioshows" are negligible... it actually looks like u put the radioshows of the big names above all the others and thats clearly the wrong message imo, since we all know the trance scene doesnt need even more attention for the big guys, but for the more unknown and quality producers ! a first step would be to treat their radioshows the same way !

Well, in a way we do - because they are 'popular'.
It has been bugging me as well, as I prefer to listen other radio shows that are less 'popular'.

But with everything you gotta make decisions - people search for 'asot ###' things, not "dj hendrik willem" so we created them their own section. While my goal was and is to promote trance - whoever it is - it's not an option to give everyone their own section. I don't mind giving talented people their own section, I'm all up for that it just that people seem to disappear or loose interest over time.

So, how else would you like to see the radio section - keeping in mind we also need to serve the bigger crowd.
If people give us a list of other radio sections they would like to have added, I'm all up for that. If there is any DJ who has a regular show and wants more promotion, we can make that happen.

Deciding which radio shows get their own subforum and which don't is an ongoing process, and we have in the past created new subforums for new radioshows as well as having deleted some and merged them with 'other radioshows'. Which have their own and which don't is usually a decision based on factors like popularity, # of downloads, # of thread views etc.

100% agree with you. one forum with all radio shows (each radioshow whith its own thread) is the best way IMO. and for big radioshows like asot, we could hase several threads (eg. asot 001-099, asot 100-199, ecc).

I think Tiesto his radioshow shouldnt have its own section here, if it would be 50% trance still then maybe ok but these days its 99% something else.

Quality is subjective, old decisions were made on this basis to list major (activity) shows. This may no longer fit as time moves on and shows evolve / regress. So far it's been a static structure in an evolving scene. I see the point that it keeps the status quo but the alternative suggested has it's own flaws which have to be considered.

One thread per show all under one subforum is nice at first but creates a huge mess later on, imagine if we merged all the ASOT shows into one thread right now for instance? Imagine requests for mirrors and links going into a thread where 50-100 shows are covered? We already have enough trouble with duplicated tracklists and threads with the current structure, the whole thing becomes an ugly mess for members and for moderators.

If members can't easily find links and tracklists for the shows they want then I can't see the move being beneficial. Creating anarachy in highly active threads for the sake of providing equal exposure, is it a worthwhile tradeoff?

I would propose to take away the Tiesto radioshow section and in the future post them in the "other radioshow" section, IF non trance is allowed there that is.

To have a special section for a non trance radioshow here is kind a unlogical, IMO.
