TRANCEFIX IRC! wow!

Hey there people, here's a small tutorial about how to join our IRC chat channel! This topic will help you join the channel if you have no idea how to.

You can join us in two different ways:

1. The Webchat.

This link above will take you directly to the channel, in a new browser window. All you need to do is enter a nickname and you're ready to go!
This is the easiest way to join the channel, and we've just recently implemented a brand NEW onsite chat! This should be more reliable than the previous one, and should connect for anyone!

If you want to do it though a downloaded client, (which is still more reliable, customizable, and allows you to connect with multiple servers at once). read below...

2. IRC Clients

Step 1: Installing a client

I suggest you download mIRC. It's the most popular IRC Client there is and easiest to use. Once you've downloaded, install it by following on-screen instructions. (http://www.mirc.com/)

Step 2: Startup

When you open the program, first thing you see is a box telling you how many days you have left to use it. Just click OK and you're good, this will appear everytime you start the program but even if you're out of days, you can still use the program.

Now, take a look at the menubar. You'll see an icon that looks likes this;

Click and you're taken to mIRC options (Or alternatively use Tools > Options)

Step 3: Options

Now, you should see a box looking like this:



Type in your nickname and alternative nickname (in case your nickname is already taken). When you're done, click OK. There's no need to set up anything else, yet.

Step 4: Connecting to server and joining the channel

Choose an "Efnet" server as shown in the picture below.



You can now click OK, hereby you have selected the server to connect to. You can now manually click connect and join the Trancefix channel, but i'll show an easy and handy way to have mIRC always automatically connect and join our channel!

On the same options page as before, head to the "Options" tab, as shown below;



Mark the boxes as shown above.

Now click on the "Perform..." button and the screen showed below comes in:



As showed above, mark the box "Enable perform on connect" and add the following line in the "Perform commands" box: /join #trancefix (as shown above)

Now all that's left is clicking OK a few times and you're all set up! Whenever you start mIRC now, it will automatically connect to the Efnet server, and it will automatically enter our IRC Channel!

One more thing, if connecting seems to go wrong, you can disconnect and reconnect manually, Either by using File > Disconnect / Connect or clicking the icon shown below:

/name <your nick> <enter>
/join #TranceFix <enter>

UHMM, Installed mIrc, followed the steps, but there's no trancefix channel on the server pointed in the tutorial. Any suggestion?
