First State interview @ The Gallery, Ministry Of Sound

First State is a name that has been tearing up dancefloors at clubs, festivals and events world wide, rocking radio stations on every continent and dominating compilation tracklists and sales charts over and over again.
We caught up with Sander van Dien, also known as First State in London right before his gig at The Gallery, Ministry Of Sound. We talk about his change in music, his DJ debut right after DJ Tiësto, the brand new single “Maze” and the new compilation “The Whole Nine Yards”!

First State is famous for multiple chart-topping hits like “Maze”, “Skies on Fire”, “My Sanctuary” and many more. The initial claim to fame was the track “Falling”, that was featured on Tiësto’s “In Search Of Sunrise” compilation. This led to the debut performance ahead of DJ Tiësto in Amsterdam in 2006, which subsequently led to a complete European tour that included headlining a set at Privilege in Ibiza. First State is up for a fast and steady rise in the Progressive Trance world.

  1. Nice interview, Sander seems so nice!

I use a lot of progressive house tracks, and that’s actually the direction I want to go from now

    Noooo :crybaby2:

  2. Nice LED wall there.

  3. He doesn’t sugercoat it, he wants to go for the top spot. No shame in that 🙂 Another good interview from Viktor

It comforts me a lot :^^

  5. Good interview, I just don’t like First State at all.

    • Good interview, I just don’t like First State at all.

I agree with you, not at all. But in part, yes, I like the old First State with Ralphie B was massive. I think all of us know their EPIC remix for Solarstone’s Eastern Sea. The current First State with Sander is not my taste. He has released few decent tracks like “Butterfly Effect” which I love.
