TranceFix August

August in TranceFix brings piles of fresh good music, if you still doubt what to listen to you can always roll up your sleeves and get lost in the ever growing upcoming releases section. With that in mind we will soon invite you to vote for the best tracks from July. Submissions for the candidates have already closed, but you already can nominate the candidates for August.

This month we will present you four special reviews. Four big EDM albums which we will refer to as ‘The Summer’s Big Four’ will be presented one by one each week, do not miss them. Not all of them are from trance field indeed but we think they represent the creative side of electronica and an EDM lover should not miss out on them, including you, folk.

Of course there will be an interview (and most likely not just one) coming your way and if we find time through this holiday fever we will drop a contest soon as well!

Meanwhile, as the tradition dictates, here are the top 3’s of the FrontPage crew, to gain inside what did our crew listened to the most past month.

1. Don Diablo – Universe [Spinnin’ Deep](2015)
This guy has changed his sounds towards what is popular now. A blend with stabby deep-house piano sounds. But he got it right, very nice happy commercial house music. Summertune!

2. Joonas Hahmo x K-System – Ocean Drive [Hahmo Recordings](2015)
Great trancey track with a powerful melody. This one is also a great summertune

3. Martin Solveig – +1 [Spinnin’ Deep](2015)
Was already listed in my previous top 3, yeah, but it’s just this years best… summertune!

1. Signal Space – Sharik [Alter Ego Progressive](2015)
Love the Progression and Vibe in this! Really beautiful stuff as well, and also underrated

2. Thomas Hayes – Lost [Enhanced Progressive]
Proper Progressive How I like it. Really relaxing and beautiful. My sort of style too.

3. W&W – Rave After Rave (Merzo Edit) [Mainstage](2015)
Really like this bootleg. Makes it as fun as the Original!https://soundcloud.com/alteregorecords/aeps15-signal-space-sharik

1. Plumb – Need You Now (Bryan Kearney Remix) [Black Hole Recordings](2015)
I picked it up a little later maybe, but I love it…simply because it’s in the Luminosity 2015 aftermovie! What a catchy tune, decent!

2.Chelsea Wolfe – The Warden (Maceo Plex Remix) [Ellum](2014)
Beautiful groove and vocals. Lovely progressive sound. Thanks for pointing me at this one @Puppetmaster

3. WSTLNDR – NYX [Black Hole Recordings]
WSTLNDR is Leon Bolier’s new project on the edges of melodic progressive trance and deephouse with a new album soon to come. Not yet fully recognised by every trance lover but really beautiful!

4.Jel Ford – Overcast [Drumcode](2015)I simply can’t stick to 3 tracks so I need to pick this one as well. Typical Drumcode release if you ask me. I love how the bass line is filtered, how the groove is built and the simplicity in this track. It works! I also don’t need much imagination to feel the bass line bombarding the mighty ‘Gashouder’ dome in Amsterdam. BAM! Really like this bootleg. Makes it as fun as the Original!

Overcast preview individually not available, only in Drumcode 258.

1. Jonathan Allyn – Rakatur [Pharmacy Music](2015)
A truly brilliant uplifting track! Jonathan manages to blend the best from psy- and “regular” uplifting trance and the result is fantastic.

2. Sound Quelle – Allarg [Silk Textures](2015)
Lovely progressive track by Sound Quelle, who made some different from the darker vibe, which I usually love the most. A real summer track!

3. Hibernate – Are You Out [Monique Chronique](2015)
Takes me back in time with a lovely, smooth vocal house track by Hibernate who mixes the best elements from Michael Cassette and blends them with a lovely vocal.

1. Subtact – Restart [Monstercat]
This is what Monstercat is about for me – happy vibes music with out of the box thinking. Subtact was long due for a solo release on Monstercat and this future bass track is a solid proof that the guy is capable of many great things!

2. Jamie XX Feat. Romy – SeeSaw [Young Turks](2015)
One can never go wrong with Jamie XX nor Young Turks label for that matter. Taken from the brilliant album ‘In Colour’ this is an outstanding collaboration between Jamie XX and Four Tet. Listen for yourself and adore it.

3. Labtracks – Breakout (MartinHalldin Remix) [Macarize](2015)
A tad late with this one, but I am extremely happy that this one landed in my playlists. I loved the Original very much and this remix adds a wicked touch to it. Splendid energy infusion granted this track to be amongst the most played ones in July.

1. Ishinohana – Lucia (John Talabot’s Sunset Edit) [NO LABEL](2015)
John Talabot is a spanish producer who mashes up plenty of tracks and gives them a chilly, sundown’ish touch.
I loved this one on first listen, take a listen for yourself – balearic feelings guaranteed!

2.Orkidea – Neo Romance [Black Hole Recordings](2015)
Do i really need to comment Orkidea? brilliant, just brilliant – usually male vocals don´t really mix with trance (i heard from some peeps) but they blend in this mix perfectly and give it that special touch.
Also, i love “Harmonia’s” basslines because i can turn my crappy car stereo on overdrive without any audible clipping/crunching from the speakers

3. Phantogram – All Dried Up [Barsuk Records](2009)
A tad melancholic but one of those tracks to just lie down in your bed, staring at your ceiling and drifting off in thoughts about this and that.
I´m a sucker for synths, so i really like songs which are hybrids made of actual, analog instruments and some accompanying synth action! (Synth Pop, Indie, Alternative – you name it)

So long for now,
We will be back soon with the voting and the first review from the Summer’s Big Four
