What a great surprise. How do you plan on releasing it, just sending it to the labels and see who bites?

I would be interested to see if Magdelayna is correct that no one would take notice. I find that hard to believe thats the primary reason we don't hear this production style. Surely it's to do with the short-comings of the software? It's come far but maybe not far enough.

I think most of the generic 138 we hear would jump at the chance to make their baselines, hats, and kicks like this. And this is the PRE mastered version we are listening to here. Maybe some of the unlistenable and stale Trance we hear simply needs a production re-skin and the ideas come to life?

We plan on a limited vinyl run initially which would require crowd funding of some form. No labels though, no.

The video posted on Trance Classics here was really a bit of a tester to gauge both if this could pass off as something legit from back in those times as well as seeing if there'd be interest in 'retro style' Trance tracks like these releasing.

From the response to the teaser, there certainly seems to be lots of people enjoying it (the upload is actually currently rated first on our analytics performing better than all other uploads in its first day), and we've certainly had some positive feedback from a few respected names in the scene too which is always nice.

We understand it won't appeal to everyone, but we think there's certainly a gap in the market for old style produced Trance to have a place in todays scene and to be able to release it on vinyl is our dream here.

Authenticity hasnt been one of "trance" biggest focus the last 15 years.

I really wanna see a new scene take over the black hole/armada monopoly. But prolly never gonna happen.
I completely agree. From a production point of view modern day Trance is super clinical, has precision cuts, flooded with atmospheric sounds, harsh transient kick drums and seems geared towards that whole EDM "Put your f***ING hands up" drop.....and that's not Trance.

I've tried to produce this track with authenticity in mind.
The hardware used has certainly been a factor in the production as well as the drum machines used.

Hey, glad you like the track and yes it was just a pre-master. My music production have the end goal in mind from the start. I make my pre master sound how I expect it to on the master which means the master is just the last bit of glueing together, odd be adjustments and final cuts.

I wouldn't slate any of the guys who are doing the current Trance. I'm not a fan of it myself now as I feel it's over done and has resulted in A LOT of producers and tracks that all sound the same, but there are some really good producers. For me I felt I was just another 1 to the volume and I personally feel I have more to give to trance than that.

My way of thinking simply is to go back to the cores of Trance. The fundamentals of trance is to take you on an journey. To take you away into wherever your mind takes. A trance state of mind. And this is where this track comes in 🙂

It's a perfect opportunity for me as an artist to team up with Trance Classics group as it's an instant fanbase (aslong as the track meets the grade) and for the Trance Classic group it's a really great opportunity to help bring something to the forefront of their fanbase, something unique, and something they can have their fans engage into.
It's a perfect match and one I hope will help put a stamp on the trance scene between us both.
☺️

I hope people dont mix this up with that Raz ****show Trance Classics 'alias' hehe.
Haha don't worry we won't. The track will still be registered as Enigma State.
We could possibly say the "Trance Classics Pres." element to it is the label for the vinyl release.
It pains me that they've used Trance Classics as an alias.

Loving the sound of this, real chills which good Trance does. Sorely miss this sound in Trance.

Would love and be happy to pay for productions like this though I wouldn't find vinyl practical.

Great work.

Truly amazing sounds here. For sure would like to support this. Might have missed that but are you guys gonna release this digitally?
Thanks, really glad you like it. At this stage the project will be vinyl. Once we have this sorted theres scope for a digital release.

Thanks! Glad you like it. Given that TC are vinyl based the project is for vinyl, but there will be scope for a digital release too. 😊

If this leads to a resurrection of the classic sound, that more producers will do the same. You will be a fucking legend
Thanks. No doubt as what usually happens the early pioneers get left behind and someone will come in and make a name for themselves. If I become the guy that revived Trance to this sound I will die a happy man! 🙌😂

That's what I was thinking about - there already are some great tunes which are sounding quite a lot like classic.....

(take this for example, one of my favourite tunes of 2019, so "Lange-sounding")

George Winkworth - Into Other Worlds

......but still, In My Fantasy is like another level, 100% no modern track elements. This needs to go mainstream among the trance producers.

I can't imagine how amazing it would be to resurrect the trance of 90's (and till 2007 at least)....the classic sound of such labels as Eye Q, Platipus, Bonzai, Discover, Euphonic, Vandit, ID&T, BXR, which had their trademark unrepeatable style and some of which are now releasing just random stuff which barely reminds me of the 'root sound' of these labels.

early pioneers
I'd say the early pioneers aren't the ones who are trying to replicate what the real early pioneers did. 😉 I also personally wouldn't want everyone doing it to be honest, emotion over choice of instruments. Your work seems like it nails both, but if everyone starts jumping on the bandwagon because it's "in", it will end up just like uplifting.

There's no chance that everyone will do this...even if it proves to be a hit.

The vast majority of producers much prefer to look forward than in reverse (which is quite natural of course), but if there's an audience for these older sounds in todays scene (which there certainly appears to be), and if some other producers felt like trying their hand or were somehow inspired by us to try something similar, then that would only be a good thing in my book.

Even with our upcoming release here the B-Side is a very different flavour to 'In My Fantasy', and of course there is no limitation to the style of Trance you can create with analog gear so I don't see it ending up like some samey/gimmicky sort of sub genre if it took off in any way.
