Its a bit black ‘n white though.

As trance producer you have a select group of fans. Some have been suppo
A little loyalty towards the people who make it possible for you to “live the musical dream”, is perhaps morally right.

At least to some degree. So its not so much ‘demanding’, but a request to re-evaluate your morals as a human being 😉

Ferry tries to be loyal though. The Gouryella tracks are an example of that. This particular one seems a bit lazy though.
While I agree that ferry tries to be loyal and I applaud him for that... I fundamentally disagree with your ethical notion that the artist has a or the moral obligation to please (the taste of) his fans, based upon previous successful work(s).

Ferry has morally fulfilled the social contract to his fans by creating beautiful (<- pun) works that people are awilling to pay money for. And the fans have morally fulfilled their part by paying money for it (and presumably not downloading it illegally) and thats where the ethical cycle ends.

An artist has only one moral obligation in terms of aesthetics and that is to himself, as he didn't engage in a pre-arranged contract with said fans or X label (in case of ferry, Say Dani Minogue might be another story).

I actually think in terms of ethics its the other way around.

to presume or demand an artist who's work you liked is now because of that an indented serve to your taste, so partially your defacto property. Is not only practically impossible, but also an immoral act.

you're basically saying: "work for me, and i'm not going to guarantee paying you for it".

What a load of rubbish you talk lol. Fans will always go to see their favourite artists to hear a specific sound and their famous past tracks.
Really ? There will be times when it will be different and the fans will not go to their artists' fun. For example, since 2013, not everyone wants to go to ASOT or any other game related to Armin. Why ? This man even in his sets changed his style so much that he has more promotion in BigRoom producers or Psy-Trance producers under Mainstage. Not the times when Uplifting or Progressive were as fashionable as they are now, or at least not with Armin. He may attract so many fans, but he also loses those fans because of his playing. I know it's a bit different, but here's an example where people don't like to walk and play anymore.

yup, I agree. you still haven't answered my question as to why you think fans therefor get to demand stuff.

they're free to walk away, but I think you're confusing Customer with Boss. A Customer gets to complain and suggest. A Boss gets to Demand and reprimand. (and in the worst case fire)

you're not ferry's boss. you're his, potential, customer, therefor you don't get to demand.
There is a saying - the customer is our master. It will be better when I finish the conversation here, because everyone has their own views.

yeah but that saying doesn't mean you can have your own macintosh designed specifically for you... simply for having bought an Ipod the past m8 :ROFLMAO: Nor will Tim Cook give you a blowjob if you demand that of him (presumably)

in any case i'll conclude that I diametrically oppose your view on this, an we'll just have to agree to disagree :)

When buying hardware, as in the case of a Macintosh, you have a choice of different colors. This limits you in choosing but it's always something. Now the iMac and iPhone are colored alike ;)
As for your views, I agree with you one hundred percent ;)

and might I emphize that that is in no way a bad thing by the way.
For him, it's not - using a lot of threads for self-promotion with very little/questionable link (in more popular threads) gives you a couple of extra views and attention; I understand his need to do it, there's no argument there.

For me, personally, it's just a little cringeworthy. It's that typical modern-social-media tireless in-your-face promotion.

And finally, for the forum, it's not optimal. There are places appropriate for that. You have the section, you have a signature (which is visible everywhere), and even the little website field which is also displayed everywhere. I get it, the internet is a mostly free ad book, but do we have to have that even here?

You're a producer yourself and you don't really do that, do you? What would this forum turn into if every producer did that?

It's just simply not a thread if Mag doesn't post his track in there.
Trancefix starter pack:

@Magdelayna self-promoting his tracks
@Daysleeper trashing everything that isn't Hoopoe - Hutan
@jetflag getting into long, heated arguments :p
@Meh saying something very tangent/off-topic
and mods actually being pretty chill about it all lol

(that was a joke by the way, the reason I said its not a bad thing is because Mag's music is actually quite quality and not cringy amateur ) :)

Yes, but that's just if you see the forum as a potential advertisement platform.

This has nothing to do with that. As we've seen with the debate on UR spam, we can't really separate producers/labels by quality or taste and impose different sets of rules on both - it's always subjective.
