I appear late to the party and seems most have covered thoughts similar to mine around the melody. Why dont these kind of track come with remix packages anymore I wonder? Other artists with a more serious approach could do nicely with this.

Hmm realistically I think this is what would happen:

Gouryella - Orenda (WAO 138 style remix)
Gouryella - Orenda (EDM remix)
Gouryella - Orenda (really boring remix)

After quite a few listens I think it's probably the weakest of the "modern" (2015+) Gouryella tracks. Still quite enjoyable and true to the Gouryella sound, but that's it.

Even in my cynical mind I am still expecting the appearance of some EDM snare risers to appear 10 seconds after the sample we heard ends
There are massive helpings of EDM snare risers mate. We've also added a nice sledgehammer kick to it, loads of white noise, went mental with the sidechaining and have cut the length to 4mins 30s for the extended mix :D

Why doesn't he allow the track to breathe? Or is it the mastering/compression/EQing that's why it sounds so noisy?

Had my first listen, and even though the melody isn't great, it's still an enjoyable track. I like the intro melody more than the main lead in fact.

It's also very well produced, and is about as pleasing to the ears as modern melodic trance can get. I am definitely a fan of Ferry's 'soft trance' sound.

That would be shocking. I'm 99% sure it wont.
@Hensmon
I've only just seen this post. I can assure you there is no snare risers like that in these two tracks.
The build up snare is the typical classic trance rolling snare fill that builds up before the track kicks in 😊

That's probably what is missing. Modern Gouryella feels more like early System F rather than Gouryella (even though it's pretty true/loyal to OG Gouryella). Tiesto gave Gouryella productions a 'punch' that is missing from modern Gouryella - whether that was through his artistic vision or during the actual production of the tracks.
I miss the old clean sound of Ferry Corsten with those hi hats and crash cymbal sounds like the ones in this one.
