Cool selection of tracks, i have made 8,5

For the twelfth episode of Telekom Electronic Beats TV’s Blind Test series we dug deep into 90s Trance music (Thanks to Milton Bradley for providing us most of the 12s) Guessing the tunes are Ki/Ki, Varg, Job Jobse, Luca Lozano, Mama Snake and Trance Wax. Please note that this video is not filmed in real time. It’s edited to create some tension so that you in front of the screen can guess as well. It doesn’t say anything about how fast the participants recognised the track etc.

I've got 6,5 - couldn't recall the "Sacred Cycles" creator name even though I knew the title and it's even in my top 1000 trance tracks xD

Only after the girl said "Pete" I realized it's Lazonby, so I can say I have a 7.0 points score.

I've been requesting a trance episode almost under every "Blind Test" video they've made, seen them all and was happy to finally see a notification with this video title 😋

01: recognized in first second
02: recognized in first second
03: recognized in third second
04: recognized in first second
05: nothing
06: nothing, I was always into the Jam El Mar version, never cared for this remix
07: recognized in first second
08: recognized the Corsten signature, but no title
09: recognized in first second
10: Airwave signature sound, but no title

The newest Trance blind test:

The rules are simple - guess an artist name, you get 0,5 points, guess the title - get another 0,5 points.

I've got 7,0 points, and I can't believe I've outdone all of these guys, LOL!

Track #1 - 0,5 (got the artist but not the title;
Track #2 - 1 point;
Track #3 - 0 points (guessed the label though, but it doesn't count);
Track #4 - 1 (guessed the label as well);
Track #5 - 0 points (completely new track for me);
Track #6 - 0,5 points (guessed the remixer's name);
Track #7 - 1 point;
Track #8 - 1 point;
Track #9 - 1 point;
Track #10 - 1 point.

Let me react to the first video. I probably don't know most of these tracks:

#1 - It feels like a 2014-2016 era retro housey song on Youtube where the cover art is a vinyl. No clue what this is.
#2 - FUCK I know what this is.
4 Voice - Eternal Spirit
#3 - ?? Oliver Lieb? L.S.G? Spicelab? ohhh it's
Adventures of Dama.
Wow it sounds much better than I remember it. Somehow this track eluded me.
#4 - HAHAHA
Aurora Borealis - The Milky Way
, one of my favorite 1990s hard-trancers. So hype.
#5 -
Humate - Love Stimulation (PvD remix)
. I saw the comments above, but I would have recognized it regardless!
#6 -
Jam & Spoon - Stella
Another track from the comments, but I would have recognized it.
#7 -
Pete Lazonby - Sacred Cycles.
I wouldn't have recognized it without looking at the comments, but I would have remembered it as the last track on one of Airwave's sets from long ago.
#8 - Wtf this is so creepy. No clue. "I can ID the synth they used on it" :LOL: I think I've heard this once.
#9 -
X-Cabs - Neuro
, hell yeah
#10 - come on.
Push - Universal Nation

So 6/10 if we count the tracks from the comments, or 5/10 if you just count each of those as half.

Second blind test

#1 - ?? acid synth intros are not my forte lol. Does not sound familiar, other than
Oliver Lieb
(maybe), like
Hearts
#2 -
Quench - Dreams
. That vocal sample is SO iconic.
#3 - ?? no familiar with hoovers outside of Are Am Eye?, and not an acid trance listener unfortunately :( no clue WAIT I have heard this melody... somewhere.... on Platipus Recs maybe
#4 -
Cygnus X - The Orange Theme
, probably the first "classic trance" track I heard
#5 - omg again with the acid. Not meeee
#6 - bruh idk.
Astral Projection?
#7 -
Ayla - Ayla (Taucher remix)
. I didn't know this is how you pronounce
Taucher.
#8 - ?? no clue but it sounds EPIC lol. Wait,
Lovechild - Liberta?
WRONG but it was a close guess lol
#9 - ???
#10 -
Airwave - ???
I've heard this before but no idea which song, and it's one of his more famous productions from that era :(

4.0/10

Also, I don't know how the artists can say "this is a UK record" vs "this is German." I just don't know the region-specific subtleties!

F***ing hipster techno/house purist guests (some of them) And must admit Tracid was kind out of touch and an outsider in this episode.

"bla bla bla trance sounds all the same around this period. haha. such a stupid statement"

I got about 5-6 tunes right with titles and recognised 2-3 of the other ones. Never heard the Baby Doc track. Damn trance was good. Ages like fine wine.

Who is a house purist in this episode? pls tell me... Tom Wax? Do you ever have heard about Microbots, Arpeggiators or AWeX? He made some of the biggest classic's, true pioneer. Tom is the only Techno/House producer in this episode and he also made the best score, even he was NEVER a Trance Dj. I wonder how many of you would made a good score in a Techno or House blind test.))

I have heard about him sure. It just came out this way to me. Its pretty clear this channel is catered towards underground listeners. They will not go more cheesy than this. Thats why you only see "purists" guest on there, thats why I said Kai was a bit of an outsider. And I dont mean "purists" equals anything bad, its just obvious its about more "serious" authenthic oldschool techno/house/jungle, both the guest and the tracks they choose for the test. Its like the channel was made by resident advisor staff or something :p Maybe I'm wrong. I don't know how many of the oldschool techno-trance dj's look like for the matter either.

What does it matter what score people who do in a techno/house blind test.? Its pretty obvious most members here are mostly into what you would consider "modern" or cheesier side of trance. I bet a couple would score a decent amount of points though.

To be fair you would need fairly niche knowledge of early Platipus/Harthouse to do well on these "blind tests." Like,
Poltergeist - Vicious Circles
is not a track that I hear often.

It is not so badly unknown, even in 2000/2001 many djs played the Moogwai Remix:
