I mean continuing to pile on some poor kid who's just doing whatever he thinks is necessary to make it in this insignificant genre of music. It's not really big or clever.

I'm not sure what you mean by that.
Over-moralism. This "artist" we're dealing with here is not authentic. It's a joke.

"Some poor kid".
Yeah, some poor kid with a lot of money it seems. Yet, their productions are awful and it's still not enough to get actual support from the big names.

"Insignifcant genre of music".
The one with a DJ that has been in Top 5 for DJ Mag since almost forever aka Armin van Buuren.

It's just moralism. There is no "poor kid" or anyone "struggling" to get by with anything.
There is someone pretending to be an artist just cause they have money and happens to be failing miserably at it.

He doesn't seem like a kid, I'd say around my own age or maybe older. Though I might disagree and say this 'insignificant' genre of music is pretty much very significant to us all here, and while all of this is pretty much accepted as reality, it still doesn't make it any good.

He's just another one of those talentless people who continue to buy their way in and try to get fame, disregarding the 'music' part entirely. I missed most of the lecture, but from what I can gather he talked more about how to get popular and marketing, and all his advice on music seemed to be just "don't give up".

And the entire premise of this lecture was that he "shared bills" with Calvin Harris et al on major festivals, which was meant to prove his success. And he was a former student of that particular school, lecturing their current students, so it even benefitted the school in what stinks of scam.

A single laugh at his own expense surely is a bit deserved?

If Federer gets caught with an aimbot in his racket, should we conclude “Ah the poor guy just did whatever he can”?

We’re not dealing with a shy 16 year old. But a ~35 year old fraud, who lies about pretty much everything. To avoid such people getting actual success, I think its valid to show the world what is going on.

Pretty? Maybe not.

But its better than just waiting, till a “clueless” promotor DOES invite him to a festival based on his lies, or till Ruben de Ronde without realizing it puts it on ASOT just because its “very popular apparantly”.

Describing this thread and the fun poking at what we can comfortably conclude to be an obvious (adult) fraud as "a pile on a poor kid trying to make it" is like White-Knighting Paris Hilton's for her Dj skills.

The Tuna is right. There's better ways to spend time, bigger fish to fry....

And I really wonder if he really is a fraud you make him out to be. If its only 20-40 tracks to get a beatport no1 that could easily be achieved through a simple paid facebook advert of the track, and some friends helping him out.

yes kids, you should never laugh when someone displays collosal hubris and chestpumping for relevance as it might hurt their feefies.

A laugh takes a few seconds and you move on. A whole discussion involving groups of people spanning over weeks might be a little much. No issue with poking fun at him, just might not warrant the energy.

Except that its not just óne thing that we're laughing at, but a plethora.

I don't know if you've read throught the thread but over the span of a month it came to light that the man not only makes crap music and tries to boost his own popularity by self- and/or family friend buying his own tracks up the beatport chart to pretend to himself and the world that "he made it"

- but that he writes his own blurbs as if he where the next Christ of the scene.

- "shares bills" instead of actually playing along side more succesfull DJ's, yet pretending he does,

- and finally quacking "success seminars" to aspiring producers.

The man is a walking stereotype

And I find it amazingly amusing. I honestly wonder what will come up next. As for the man himself I genuinly, sincerely hope he's able to make a living out of this business of his , and that he'll be around for many, many years to come. 🙏 (although It might mean i'll die from laughter)

I'm just letting you know from a casual outside perspective that it's not a good look for the site that seems to be trying to take itself seriously.
well appriciated i guess, but since when is this (supposed to be) a site that is "trying to take itself seriously?" like.. What does that even mean? 😅

This is a music forum for hobbyists, connoisseurs and enthusiasts that allows for a lot of fun offtopic stuff and generally wields a (thankfully) unfiltered, critical attitude towards quote on quote "fake" producers and Dj's, like the aforementioned Chapter 47.

Dude, one of the first threads which were created on this forum was a porn-thread. Believe me, we don't take ourselves seriously.
