recently listening to trance from the underground, thanks to @Progrez I heard something amazing, but in my subjective opinion. I mean the artist MK-S, Why are such pearls underestimated, is the trance genre only for people who have high emotional sensitivity? Or maybe every producer in this genre is guided by commercial success and if it turns out that he has already reached his maximum potential and the audience reacts not very enthusiastically, they leave. what do you think?

It's a lot of effort for a dying (or already dead) genre.

Someone of his caliber would be better off taking his talents and applying them to other genres... like pop. I just can't imagine doing all this and only getting a couple hundred views at most.

There will be a lot of heated discussion between fans and artists. Artists and musicians want more freedom they don't want to be boxed in but having too much freedom can give you too much possibilities which will make you question why you started in the first place.

It's sad that trance as a genre is dying it's the BEST Genre out there nothing comes close not even house music which can be forgotten.

short answer from a (hobbyist) producer perspective who isn't interrested in "becoming succesfull in trance"

the rewards do not equal the efford/amount of time put in.

your best option IMO if you want to stay true to your art whilst also, you know, maintaining yourself is do not pursue a carreer in trance, full stop. instead opt for a good job, and practice your hobby on the side.

IXM - thanks for reaching out to me on soundcloud, it's really cool to have people contact me about my music after so many years, it takes me back to a time in my life that I enjoyed immensely.

honest answer on this topic for me is that I lost interest in trance (and music production in general to some extent). the vast majority of my productions took place before I went to university - and when I went there it created big changes in my life which overtook producing.

to echo jetflag's comments - unless you really "make it big" is indeed best left as hobby. I could have probably made more of myself at the time, and to some extent regret not taking it a bit further than I did. I look at people like John O'Callaghan who I used to hang out with on tranceaddict forums back in the day and think I could potentially achieved more. but this wasn't the path for me. I still have great memories of the trance producer scene, stuff like the excitement of getting a track played on ASOT, or just sending/receiving material between fellow producers. It was great.

I have occasionally produced (including some trance) in my spare time over the last few years but it's really hard to find the time, especially these days now I have a kid. the last "serious" bit of trance i did was the for the soundtrack to big sky infinity.

thanks again for the kind words about my music :)

Welcome to the forum Mike.

I guess the problem is new music producers don't make trance. They make EDM, moombathon-ish music, Kygo-ish music. But not trance.

There is no big example who shows trance is cool. If you're 16 now, you probably don't even know what trance is. Back around 2000 people could look at Ferry and Tiesto and think: yeah, this is cool.

But now there is nobody. Not even Armin. Because he presents newcomers not with trance, but with Blah Blah Blah, and dance-pop like Sunny Days. Only if they dig deeper, they will find trance.

So we're stuck with oldtimers who are in this for YEARS, who in the meantime clime up their little careers outside of music, building a family of their own... Less time and interest for a (mostly) online hobby. It's just not worth it.

Only solution is: wait a little longer for techno to fully embrace trance more and more. Techno is cool. That will bring new young producers into trance.

People like Charlotte de Witte are the new Tiesto. Really.

you probably think about going back. I do not believe that someone who has trance in his veins would not want to be here with us despite the hard times, you probably know that trance will return (@Magnevi) in a different form, but it is these producers who can throw emotions into their music that will lead the way. Today, many producers play the role of ghosts as if our genre was unwanted. Your songs are perfectly attuned to me. Come back soon thanks

don't even scare me! that he is so young and already has such a skill ??
They seem to have no interest in dance music like this. They love the pop radio songs and kids songs from disney movies. Hopefully some day :)

I wonder if your songs were created quickly, I would risk saying that it was very spontaneous and it just went. I am asking because I am an adept and I know that long weeks on a piece are just a torment. Yours are so unforced very natural

Nitrous oxide seems to be leaving the scene

TIME TO SAY GOODBYE...
In 2006 my adventure with ‘Nitrous Oxide’ has being started. First years was just amazing!
I traveled all over the world with my music, met a lot of fantastic people, full of passion and kindness. It was more than my biggest dreams. After this time everything starts to be complicated and struggle has begun. I felt ignored by the scene and my music has being pulled to the margin. It drained me emotionally a lot. For many years I’ve tried to hide this fact and pretend that everything is ok, but now I know it does’t had any sense. I just want to be fair with you guys and with myself. I decided to release the last album in 2022. I’m affraid this year will be also the last one, when you'll be able to hear and see Nitrous Oxide live. What will be next? I don't have a clue. But for now I just need a break from music. Anyway I would like to wish you all a wonderfull Christmas and a happy new year.

x Chris
