I remember that, in the early-to-mid 2010s, several teenage DJs became world-famous superstars:
The only one from recent memory is Marshmello, whose big breakthrough happened in 2016 with Alone. Maybe it's my age showing, but after that I don't remember one specific producer becoming world-famous like the above 4 did, or like their predecessors (ex. Deadmau5). Did something change in the electronic music scene? Did the music taste of the general population move on from individual DJs to something else?
If there are no rising young DJ superstars, what is different now vs then? If there are young DJ superstars, who are they, and what do they make/play?
EDIT: This thread isn't about those 4 DJs specifically. The spirit of this thread is, where is the next Avicii/Martin Garrix/Porter Robinson/Alan Walker?
- Avicii
- Porter Robinson
- Martin Garrix
- Alan Walker
