Not sure what you mean by that but Markus wasn't a newcomer back in 2005 as he had been producing easily for 10/15 years before that. As mentionned in my previous post, his Plastik/Eve and all related sublabels (most of which I personnaly own on 12'') was ace progressive trance/house. He then got more into a mainstream sound after 2003 which is where I lost interest.
Well this topic is about well-known producers, who maybe do not deserve it. In all honestly, I had no clue about his previous works, he became popular in around 2005-6, so he was not really well-known before that.

Ok, I know this one is going to be highly controversial but Tiësto immediately comes to mind when discussing this. First of all, I never really could stand the whole Superstar DJ thing, for me it's absolutely ridiculous, a DJ was never meant to be glorified as some sort of god-like figure and Tiësto was pretty much responsible for creating this non-sense which in my opinion it did way more bad than good to the scene itself. Plus I never really thought of him as that great of a DJ and quite frankly, most of his post-2002 and pre-2009 material is downright bad or at the very least quite average, plus there's the whole "he never produced a single thing himself" situation which I could easily forgive if, once again, most of his post-2002 and pre-2009 material didn't outright suck, so, yeah, I can't really look at him as that sort of huge super god-like figure many people even these days claim him to be.

Moving away from the trance scene (the title does specify 'Bands' as well :p ) I'd have to throw Joy Division in there.
They are held in some sort of reverence by a lot of the rock community, but I really can't stand Ian Curtis' droning monotone voice, it goes right through me.
That said, the surviving members did go on to become New Order, and I really do like them!

Factor B, just don't see what the big deal is. Don't hate the man or even his music at times perse., just don't get the hype.

band wise i'dd say Muse & Kings of Leon. 99 out of a hundred I hate a band for the sound of the lead singer and I can't stand the both of them for some reason.

Imagine Dragons. Their most famous tracks are all bland and only good for commercials and movie trailers.
Now, there's nothing wrong with making super commercial pop per se, but their style is just so boring and basic that there's nothing remarkable about it.

Thunder, feel the thunder
Lightning and the thunder
Thunder, feel the thunder
Lightning and the thunder
I'll take love song #9001 over whatever the heck they're singing about.

I'm sure they have hidden gems in their discography, perhaps in their earlier work... but the stuff I've heard from them that makes it into popular culture is so bad that I honestly have no intention of ever exploring their discography, as I could better spend my time finding musicians and groups that are actually interesting.

What about Linkin Park who went a bit haywire after Meteora, even Meteora was considered too soft and more commercial by a lot of fans. I remember I was taken a back myself and needed a few years to adjust to their new sound.

I'm not a Linkin Park fan. Not that I don't like their work, but more like I don't actively follow them and haven't taken a deep dive into their discography.
I think their debut Hybrid Theory defined their sound too much, and any deviations from it made their fans think wtf.
Personally, I really liked Talking to Myself (2017). That's about it, though.

Yeah they went from new metal to self-proclaimed experimental band with The Hunting Party being their last album with a nod to their new metal stuff.

Tiesto. Most over rated DJ / Producer (well... obvs had others make "his" music) ever.

I quite liked their ‘A Thousand Suns’ record. Gotta respect a band that are not afraid to try something so different to what made them successful. Some interesting tracks on there as well.

Yeah I like their harder stuff, but I also like stuff like Leave Out All The Rest and Robot Boy. From their last songs Heavy is a personal favourite.

One interesting bit about this thread is that rock-pop gets more "hate" than pure pop. Haven't seen a single pop act mentioned. Maybe that's because the thread specifically calls for bands, but my guess would be that: 1) trancefix listeners don't overlap with pop listeners, 2) pop is actually better than expected; it's just the super watered-down rock pop that sounds bad.

I find it hard to hate pop acts. It is what it is, disposable, trend music (for the most part) and mostly doesn't pretend to be anything else.
I don't like the industry that surrounds it (The X Factor/American Idol et al) but I can't hate on the artists themselves as they are usually just kids chasing a dream.

If I'm being really honest, I don't really 'hate' anything music wise, though it's fun for the purpose of this thread, but ultimately whatever sounds you vibe to, it's not for me to judge - god knows there's enough elitism and gatekeeping within music as it is already! ;)

Oh yeah, I forgot about Kasabian.

The absolute pinnacle of bland, safe rock music. Listened to by the type of boors who wear skinny jeans, smoke vanilla vape pens and drink dark fruit ciders.
lmao spot on.

The only track I like from them is Club Foot purely for the reason that its one of the soundtracks of The Windsurfing Movie.
