Punching up is allowed, but punching down isn't. Unless straight white males somehow lose major social standing within the next 20 years, replacing a white character with a non-white character will always be more "socially acceptable" than the opposite.
Privileged, all colour and creed UScitydwellers do nothing but punch down on struggling white rural communities in for instance the Appalachia’s. Or fleeing boeren in South Africa

Socially acceptable” is dictated by the demos/majority, and the more this hypocrisy of “equality when it suits us” and hatred of everything that is white skinned ensues.. the less socially acceptable it over time becomes. As already evidenced by how woke movies overal flop enmass, as opposed to their less politically charged counterparts

Those movies fail because they're terrible, not because they're woke.
I don't see the "punching up" against white people changing any time soon as long as it's profitable. In fact, the more negative conservative reaction and free advertisement from Ben shapiro/Matt walsh/Candace owens/Jordan peterson, the better.

It’s not. They’re bleeding money over it. The question is how long they can keep it up. The profitability is actually the other way around, it’s basically the dailywire s entire growth-story

The Daily Wire is growing due to the fragility of the conservative white male TM, it's no different from the rise of Andrew Tate / Jordan Peterson (who btw I insist that are two sides of the same coin)

Yes they are, People don't go to the movies to be "educated" or berated on modern day progressive politics, They go to the movies to unwind/escape from modern day progressive politics.

If they wanted to be educated and berated for their "original sin" they'd visit a church on a sunday afternoon instead of a cinema.

..and it will keep growing and growing and gain more traction/influence because unfortunatly for you, 76% of all Americans are huaite, and growing more and more tired of being hated upon, simply for having been born in the wrong skin-tone-genitalia demographic. 🤷‍♂️

This is the problem when you one see the world through the lens of power structures, and keep focussing solely on minoritiy groups, who only make up a small portion, instead of inviduals, who make up everything.

yeah you can hate-boner cope that out all you want its simply, demonstrably ,not true. 😄 and you might want to be carefull picking on Tate in the near future, I heard he converted to Islam recently so thats borderline Islamophobia for ya then, not very woke/ progressive.

Well, let them grow. Many of the conservative dudes who get pissed off when a lead actor/actress is non-white and start ranting about wokeness are the chaff of capitalism.

Reasonable people, including normal socially-adjusted white people, acknowledge that it's no big deal to cast a minority in a leading role.

This is probably better fit for the other thread on conservatives/liberals, but from a quick Google search Tate has been rejected by Muslims, praised by ISIS, and continues to spout the misogynistic bullshit that "women are men's property and belong in the kitchen." So criticism of Andrew Tate is fair game regardless of his religion.

(You do realize that andrew tate converting to Islam doesn't absolve him from criticism for the abuse and trafficking that he's done, right?)

As for movies I've watched. I recently saw two new christmas movies on Netflix. One was garbage, the one with Lindsey Lohan. I like a "bad" christmas movie, but this was bad-bad, with crappy acting and silly story, silly characters. Skip this.

The Noel Diary was the better kind of cheesy christmas movie. I enjoyed this one. Don't expect a bad ending, obviously. They will fall in love. Lol.

we will (and it shall) let the market decide in the end. No amount of nostradamusing will affect that outcome. 🙏

its not 😄 😄 and i never said it was, (speaking of tone-deafness/dishonesty from your end) have you actualy read anything I wrote? or are you just projecting, whilst grinding your teeth, foaming at the mouth from behind your keyboard/screen? because it sure comes across like that lol.

1 ISIS are muslims.
2 I'm not the one placing ethnic or religious minorities (like the muslim minority in your country) on a pedestal all simply because they're that, thats more you then me out of the two of us. And yes, as being pro-individual/individualty and anti-group think. Ánd no fan of either Islam or Tate I wholeheartily agree that he can get the full brunt of critique for..whatever.

edit:
3 dunno actually: Tate is a public figure so maybe even more suitable for the Public intellectuals (though I wouldn't call him that by a mile) thread.

To take away from the White Power discussion here, I've watched:

All Quiet on the Western Front (2022)

At some points it's a phenomenal movie (the crater scene), at some a bit off-beat, but overall I would say it's good. Enjoyed seeing it.

I watched it on netflix last month. What a spectacular war movie.

Also yesterday I saw Avatar The Way Of Water in Imax and it was pretty good, about as good as the first one id say.

Before I go and watch that, I want to throw a bit of a guess out there:

am I right in assuming the entire plot of the movie is roughly that of part 1?

It's a continuation of where the first movie ended. But the storyline/plot is basically the same. If you enjoyed the first movie, it's more of the same.

Cheers. I kinda suspected it tbh. But it’s good to have that confirmed by a fellow sci-fi nerd. It’ll temper my expectations a bit going into this making the experience probably thoroughly enjoyable

It has a pretty basic plot, but the worldbuilding is great and honestly the movie kept me hooked for the entire time

So, as being stuck with the flu (or is it covid, don't know) for a couple of days I did myself a disservice and torrented a cam-rip of avatar 2.

and its well, Ok i guess? The visuals and worldbuilding are amazing (even from a cam rip) and there's a tried and tested plot of a family trying to survive.

its far better then anything else being churned out by hollywood thats for sure, but defo minus points for me are
- plot could have been a bit smarter, (why not make the humans a bit more morally complex?)
- could do with a lot less unnecessary teenage drama distracting from the whole story
- oversaturating the environment(al messaging) yes, we get it, Whale hunting isn't very morally acceptable and hasn't been for some time now, James...and despite the amount of work the man defo put in the world and CGI (13 fing years!) there's only so much WOWscapes before the thing becomes well...normal and not all that special anymore.

7 out of 10.

Was expecting a light drama/thriller but I was wrong haha. I don't think I've ever seen something like this before.
Overal fresh, enjoyable, and memorable movie to start the year.
