Omformer - Interstellar Infection

How did you feel about this one? The breakdown is absolutely phenomenal, but for me having 10 minutes to get to that point is too long, especially when the track doesn't change almost at all through that entire time leading up to it. A 10 minute build? Find that a bit boring, samey and lacking proper tension/story-telling personally, but didn't hate it.

Seo John - miQro [WALLS AND PALS]

Seems like there is a new label each week on bandcamp releasing Trance type records. So good!

The build up is long indeed. Somehow it feels like they're doing a jam session and instead of redoing/editing/polishing the composition, they just keep it raw as it is.

It might not work for home listening, but for a set, sometimes there's a steady moment where track like this fits perfectly to keep the energy level, without going into full energetic climax.

Also, compared to their other tracks this one has more "safer" approach with its melody and sound selections.

This one was almost my TOTY haha. Mainly because I've been craving this type of proggy builder. That being said, when I downloaded it I immediately loaded it in to Ableton and made an edit to ~10 minutes to have as well. It was a PITA because of the way it builds up slowly. It misses a little something from the original as an edit but it's more do-able in a set now if you mix end to end.

That being said, there are plenty of places to mix in to the original and make it shorter. Old journey prog tracks were like this as well, although usually more complex to justify their length. That being said, I LOVE THIS TRACK as is. My 6 year old son disagrees. At minute 4:30, he asks me, 'Dad why is this song so long and boring'? I didn't make him listen to the rest and put on some Elton John instead. Choose your battles as they say.

Yeah, even in the old days most long prog track has already reached second build up or breakdown around 4:30. But that's what I like about this nu-scene, they just do whatever they want haha

An interview with all 3 UTE founders about the label's history and their music philosophy
Ute.Rec: Reinventing '90s trance aesthetics in the north

Q: Rumour has it that there is another new sub-label project in the making? We are curious!

F: We are working on a vinyl sub-label!
T: It’s going to be more progressive, a bit different from what we have made so far. It’s very expressive. There will be faster, more emotional and bigger tracks, but at the same time home listening material on the same record. It’s a project that wouldn’t make sense on the other labels.

This is fantastic, need more stuff like this pronto. This label seems like one to follow for me, nice mix of more synthy techno and these trancier tunes, Here's another gem from it:

Self-release from Solar Suite - definitely suffers from being the usual housey style but I appreciate that its a bit more uptempo.

Hello guys! I'm Exalted aka Ruslan Yusipov aka Compositor (this is my hacker name). It is my first real dark progressive tune, I think it originates the whole Euphoric Trance sound:

Exalted - Cavity

It is a mix of dark progressive, psychedelic and piano modulations. Thank you for listening, I can prove that I'm a real person in a number of ways, just ask me questions ;)

I def remember this tune. Welcome to the forum. This was a 2005 tune though, and this thread seems to focus more of the 90s sound.

Edit: i remember cyberflight sorry

Shame about the vinyl-only aspect... really irritates me given the shipping cost to the consumer in other countries, the environmental impact of both shipping and pressing records, etc.

This set from Glen S is cracking, one of my fav producers/DJ's of 2022. He's got some tasty ID's I hope get released soon!
