Since both @dmgtz96 and @erickUO mentioned Tim Fretwell - who is a wonderful breaks producer -, I thought it would be a crime not to share what is, imo, his greatest production:

It has the melody, it has the atmosphere, it's damn near perfect. And it's from, as near as makes no difference, 20 years ago this July.
Fretwell is definitely a legend. This is my fav remix from him

This is a spaceship of a track!

Those resonant, hypnotic atmospheres put me in another state, no other drugs needed.
Feels like travelling through space.

Rom Di Prisco - Troposphere

Listening to this guy's music feels so otherworldly.
I used to fantasize that he's an alien making music.

Those old NFS games with his soundtracks were magic.

Was just on beatport looking to see what's been released as progressive breaks these days but i can't seem to filter this out. All i see is Breaks/Breakbeat/UK Bass mashed together as one genre list. Am i missing something?

They removed prog breaks filter years ago. So now it's mixed up under breaks.
But sometimes you can find them on electronic, deep house, or progressive category.

To see the current state of prog breaks, I think you can check mixes from Joe Wink, DJFonik, Lynsey, DrMike, or Retroid's Revive Mixes.

Quaid - Cascade
.

Released in '98. According to Discogs there was only 20 copies available (for promo).
But it's now re-released again (vinyl only).

The sonic palette sounds so similar to current nu trance/prog releases.
