So, I was recently checking out Beatport and I just realized that a new major change regarding its music genres has just happened: If you check out the music genres available on Beatport you'll see that, similar to the current division of Techno in two major branches (Peak-Time / Driving and Raw / Deep / Hypnotic), Trance has also been majorly divided more or less the same way with the "Main Floor" section dedicated to the more commercial/mainstream sounds of the genre and "Raw / Deep / Hypnotic" for the deeper, more progressive and more hypnotic sounds of the genre. This must be a very recent change, it probably only has a few hours as of now because I was on Beatport early this morning and I didn't notice anything different so this must be absolutely brand-new at the moment.
I personally applaud this move on behalf of Beatport and I must say that I'm quite impressed with how fast this new Deep Trance movement is growing to the point that there is already a channel on DI.FM fully dedicated to this kind of music called "Deep Progressive Trance" and now with this new proper division on Beatport I believe this can be promising as we're finally seeing the genre officially properly splitting in two which, in my very honest opinion, was something that was more or less happening already, this new move on Beatport just cemented that once and for all.
What do you guys think?
