Cosmic Gate team up once again with Andrew Bayer on ‘The Launch’. One of two collaborations from Andrew Bayer on Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats Volume 15 album (the second being ‘The Test’ with Genix), ‘The Launch’ is not the first time Bayer and Cosmic Gate have crossed paths. Their collaboration ‘Nothing Ever Lasts’ was released on Black Hole Recordings in 2011 and was one the Above & Beyond’s favourite releases of that year. We’re thrilled to reunite two titans of modern trance on Anjunabeats as we celebrate our label’s twentieth anniversary.

I like it, sound epic. Only thing I would change is that drop for something more interesting bass.

Not sure why but the notes on that lead synth during the build up remind me of RAMsterdam :D

In all seriousness, the first half is ok, the drop is what I call the typical Anjunafarts and it's the same thing over and over again. It's not sound to me.

The starts reminds of me the old faithless sound (promising I may add) from back in the day, then it transcends into something I can't listen to.

Surely this style has gotta pass now. Its so far away from what Trance was born from, its got to be classed as a different genre now (I dont know what). Just becuase it has the big melodic moment does not give it a free pass into the genre. Someone come up with a term please.

I'm trying to think of sensible responses to this, however I keep coming back to 'trash trance' or 'ear bleeders'.

It is funny that these so called "heavyweight" trance artists / biggest names are the ones that have the most mediocre productions. Cosmic Gate, Schulz, Above & Beyond, Gareth Emery, etc.

Well, this track does not even fit the mediocre section, this is pure garbage. Sad.

Anjunabeats seems to believe this kind of sound puts people in a trance so who's to convince them? We have people like Jono Grant crying on Twitter about sound and BPM's (and with his quarantine solo releases sounding exactly like "Bayer farts"), while Tony is going to release some solo stuff on Anjunadeep with a new alias and Paavo has been producing with Spencer Brown, and Gardenstate in Finland, both of those great artists who do much deeper more melodic stuff.

Seems to me there's starting to be some internal conflict about this crappy repetitive farty sound, but there's no convincing all of Anjuna's A&R that this is trash, it still sells.

2:00 - 3:20 is like 80 seconds of unneeded crap, in comparison to the rest of the track..

The melody immediately reminded me of Salva Mea. I agree with everyone that this is unlistenable noise.
It literally hurts and causes instant deafness. It Should come with a warning!!

I remember last time i went to trance energy in Amsterdam, it was the last year where they called it trance energy. I think it was around 2011. Anyhow this kind of trance was entering the music scene, i hated it back then. And i aboslutely hated that i went to trance energy and got served this kind of crap music in an event called TRANCE energy. Its soon 10 years of this ugly sound, for sure they have to let it go soon. I cant remember any sound in trance that lasted this long.

Most other styles last 4-5 years max, but this utter crap just refuses to let go. Im sure its easy to make and thats why.
