One of my preferred "steroid" tracks.
Singling out the Bryan Kearney remix because the original is not trance (it's house, you're welcome to check it out here).

The tune itself was ok to me to be honest. Not very good, but not too bad either. Unsure how it became TOTY2014 though, there were so many better tracks in my opinion.

I think it hits different when it's part of a mix. I really liked it during Bryan Kearney's set at Transmission. Tbh I had no idea it was track of the year - I'd have given that award to Will Atkinson - Victims. Then again, Gareth was huge in the early 2010s, so that's probably why tracks associated with him won those awards.

I'm guessing the vocal appeals to the masses. Including a good portion of the "real" trance listeners, and not only the "casual" ones. It's a guilty pleasure for quite some of us, with that overemotional over-the-top vocal. But secretly it's fun.

Same as with Concrete Angel. If you sing along that track in a club, it's sort of funny. It's so over the top...

What also helps, is that a lot of Gareth Emery releases have a poppy 'original', and they include a "Joc" or "Kearney"-esque name for a pretty generic but fine uplifting remix, that get's hammered by Armin.

Gareth Emery is still huge though. Don't see why it just would be "early 2010". He recently had another Tune of the Year with Saving Light (which follows the same guidelines as the others...).

I remember when I saw this on ASOT2014. I thought it was odd that it was on Disk1(which is usually reserved for slower stuff). A decent remix from Bryan.
