Here's a couple from one of the brightest composers out there, who, unfortunately, died way too young a couple of years ago. His style was pretty unique and fit whatever movie he did absolutely perfect. His own album Orphée was spectacular and whenever he did a score it always had a bit of a horror and eerie vibe to it. Just listen to these two from Sicario and one from Arrival (Two of the best movies from the last decade).
This man managed to create tension with his music which no one seems to strive for today - it's always about making you cry or getting goosebumps instead of actually looking at the scene and create something which fits it 100%; And Jóhann Jóhannsson managed to do that every single time.

Now, non of these tracks seems spectacular if you haven't seen the movies (or at least the scenes), but the mixture of visuals and sounds just lifts it to the next level. I will say that, Heptapod B is a small masterpiece imo.

I love both of these movies and you're spot on! The soundtrack for Sicario was a perfect match for the dread and darkness that was throughout the film. Such a good movie!

Jóhann Jóhannsson also did the score for Mandy, which was a crazy psychedelic, visually rich action/horror film with Nic Cage. Again, his work was brilliant.

Ha, the movie (Mandy) is bat-shit crazy, I absolutely love it!

Btw., have you ever listened to the soundtrack from Le Planète Sauvege? That one is sooooo good and psychedelic. Funnily enough it's pretty much the same track in various variations.

This one is from one of my favourite movies from 2013 with a score, which pretty much sets the tone of the entire movie. It's without a doubt Tom Hardys best perfomance and Baby is in my mind the best track from the soundtrack. If you haven't watched the movie I highly recommend it!

There's also something incredibly tender about this track from the Estonian movie Mandariinid - it's so sad and filled with emotion.

I could seriously go on and on and on, but I'll stop for now and post some more tomorrow, ha!

I haven't heard of the movie, but Le Planète Sauvege sounds like it's right up my alley. These musical picks are awesome, I love that I'm not aware of these films! Gives me a chance to explore more cinema, of which I'm also a big fan. A few years back, I've stopped watching too many mainstream movies and gained an interest in independent, foreign, or film festival selections (Sundance, Cannes, etc.) movies. There's so many great and hidden cinematic gems out there and it's been a pleasure to gather an awesome film collection.

Keep them coming!

The Star Wars themes are always epic! Back in the early 2000's, there were a lot of movie soundtracks remixed to trance; while some of them were cheesy, there were some absolute bangers, haha. This one was really popular where I lived as a teenager. Probably best to talk about that in another thread, but here's a clip of a local DJ playing it:

ID - Star Wars -The Force Suite (Trance Remix)

We had a copy of this a long time ago, but I forgot who made it.

But going back to topic, the original was super heroic and emotional, it always got to me and I'm not even a big Star Wars fan.

John Williams - Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope - The Force Theme

That's a very nice thread!

Here are some of my favourite anime/game/movie OST's:

These 3 come from a composer named Kenichiro Suehiro and they're from one of my absolute favourite anime movies ever called "Re:Zero - Starting Life in Another World".

My favourite OST is called "Subaru & Emilia", and I've been haunting for the name of it for 2 years as this soundtrack was available only as a Bonus track and just couldn't find it in the official OST's list....fortunately found it only this year. I remember being literally in tears when this played during the movie - it was the last track in the end of first season (before the credits)

I usually compare this OST to one of my favourite trance tracks "Afternova - Serenity (Andy Blueman's Remix), especially the orchestral remix.

Kenichiro Suehiro - Subaru and Emilia

Kenichiro Suehiro - Chain of Memories

Aaand of course the ending track of episode 15 which made me lose my shit cause of all the shocking stuff going on in the movie....If you've seen it, you'll understand me

Kenichiro Suehiro - Requiem Of Silence

Next one comes from a PS2 game called Ace Combat 4.

Such an epic OST!

Tetsukazu Nakanishi - Megalith (Agnus Dei)

And of course the tune a lot of people know from one of my favourite movies "Schindler's List".

I just couldn't resist not including this GEM here....

John Williams - Theme From Schindler's List

P.S. I guess you can say after listening to these melodies that depressing and melancholic music is my jam - well I love Andy Blueman, Kelly Andrew, New World, Simon O'Shine + Sergey Nevone and other emotional/orchestral uplifting trance, so it's not strange xD

Time for something more raw, brutal and completely energetic. This soundtrack was made in 2015 by Jed Kurzel for the movie Macbeth starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cottilard - there's something incredibly sad and harrowing about this score, which made me forget about pretty much everything for 4 minutes.
The adaptation itself is mesmerizing and I honestly think it's one of Fassbenders best performances so far. The movie is very overlooked and so unique and almost psychedelic, which the score represents. Here I'll post the main theme "Macbeth" and the two "The Child Pt. 1 & 2". Unfortunately it never had a vinyl release, but the movie itself I have in two copies, one a UK copy with included artwork.

Checked out the trailer and as soon as I saw the Official Selection for Festival de Cannes graphic, I knew it was going to be sick. Will check it out.

so much funeral music in here.

The soundtrack of the Kirby game series has to be the most joyful of all time!
My first game was Kirby's Dream Land 2 and I have to say that it is unbelivelable that this is on the GameBoy.

In my opinion, the soundtrack of Nintendo games is far superior compared to the other systems in most cases.

The song playing at the beginning of Link's Awakening still gives me shivers:

Haunted House in Mario 64 has to be one of the creepiest songs in any video game. And who doesn't remember the friendly piano? ;)

Last but not least, Snowboard Kids has an incredible soundtrack. Very trancy as well. ;) I remember playing this all day back then. Good times!

Well, I guess I will spend the rest of my day hearing songs of video games I grew up with. :)

Got a double whammy of a soundtrack from WipEout 3:

Sasha - Xpander:

Literally, one of the best soundtracks for video games, but also for trance and electronica back in '99! I remember lots of all nighters with this game. And the beauty of the Playstation 1 CD was that you could take it with you since the audio played on CD Players as well. Sasha was the Music Director for this game and really outdid himself with this masterpiece. It featured tracks from Paul Van Dyk, Propellerhead, Underworld, Orbital, The Chemical Brothers, MKL, and of course, Sasha.

I also loved the soundtrack from Death Stranding, of which I thought the game, while it was very divisive, had a pretty brave and unique story. Kojima did well to have created the universe and lore in that game, even though I had a hard time following at times.

Death Stranding Theme:

Did you grow up with the system? I did, mostly. So we might be a biased, but I think I agree with you for the most part. Nintedo has Koji Kondi for starters. Im thinking that nintendo has a bit more of the actually memorable themes and joyful vgm's out there, but that might not be true.

Ending themes are interesting. They have endless amount of variety and filled with such nice themes and moods. They actually feel like tiny symphonies of sorts, displaying various moods of triumph,sadness,joy,accomplishment,despair,hope,home-sickness. They are also not much talked about when people have discussion on vgms.
