What makes Shivers no. 1? I never thought it was that well liked.
It's trancey, so the type of people who fill in Communiction, Serenity, Sail, might also type in Shivers as one of their Armin-votes. They will not vote This Is What It Feels Like.

It's poppy, so the type of people who fill in Never Say Never, In And Out Love, This Is What It Feels Like, might also type in Shivers as one of their Armin-votes. They will not vote for let's say Blue Fear.

And let's not forget that Shivers Airport mash-up, that might have introduced a lot of the younger/new fans with Shivers.

I think it has an ideal position in the middle, being both trancey, and a poppy radiohit. It's gaining from multiple types of fans.

Edit: I am surprised myself too though. In a positive way. I'm happy to accept this as the number 1, rather than This Is What It Feels Like...

153 tracks from Armin van Buuren, his aliases and groups incl. him are in the ASOT top 1000 tracks.

That's more than 15%.

MAN ON THE RUN at #8!? RAMelia on #10???? TILL THE SKY FALLS DOWN on #24!!!!!??????

That's it, people have been arrested and thrown to jail for less. I would rather walk around naked in a field of glass, snakes and barbed wire before ever admitting tracks like these even deserve a spot in the Top 1000. I would rather drink my own urin on a hot summer day at room temperature than listen to this list if tracks like these are suddenly being played.
Maybe I'm just old, but calling this list a joke is an understatement

And Shivers..... sure, it's a nice track if you want something cheesy but who the fuck are we trying to suck off here? #1..... really?

The results are no surprise - these were the most 'popular' tracks of this radio show - a mid 2000's Armin track was always going to be number 1. He probably rigged so he did get number 1 - i doubt he would want Tiesto there hehe!

What i dont get is why theres loads of true '99 classics scattered about everywhere but loads are still missing - i assume he only he played these older classics once as the end 'classic' segment?

Right that settles it then, they cant get away with this, we will make the TF top 1000 Trance tracks and put this shit right, rewrite the history books, restore peace, save Trance etc

On a more positive note, its clear Armin still has the passion for the old classic stuff which was played, and it was interesting to hear his number 1 of all time is LSG - Netherworld.

I had goosebumps when he and Ferry were dancing and talking in the studio about tracks like Carte Blanche which was playing, two Trance legends right there.

Armin seems enthusiastic about everything (hint: PR)...but I get it, this is his youth and rise to fame they were talking about. Don't forget he fell in love with stuff like Netherworld etc and started producing because of it (he started producing a few years earlier, but the point remains - it was the late 80s and early 90s stuff).

It was only later when he saw the potential and started chasing a career (and maybe fame) that things changed, and even then, I still think he's had a good music career, even up until now. It's in the decline, musically, but still...

He clearly loves music (otherwise we wouldn't have heard GAIA - Moons of Jupiter), he loves his classics, ambient, techno, house, classical etc...but the stuff he puts out the most has to satisfy the majority of the crowd in order for him to stay relevant and financially stable. Including ASOT, including festivals, including albums etc. His continuous overall success is a proof of that.

That we don't like that approach is another topic.

Cern - The Message ...one of the greatest Trance tracks ever, released on ASOT in 2004 - wasnt even in the top 1000 ASOT tracks of all time - get your head around that one haha.

There are more tracks from deadmau5 in top 1000 then from Nu NRG and Alphazone combined :ROFLMAO:
hard trance like that might have made it in the early 2010s but not rn
That's when the most viewed trance videos on Youtube were compilations of early 2000s hard trance, like "top 10 trance techno anthems ever." Now everyone and their mother is putting up "uplifting trance" videos with pictures of attractive women for views.
