It's a shame that this had to end at New York I loved to see these things.

this picture made me gasp. You'll never find me in a situation like this, ever

Nice shots

you can figure out the answers by browsing r/antiwork and r/recruitinghell.

Lots of people who quit just left for better jobs (better pay, benefits, work-life balance)
People in hospitality (incl. restaurants/fast food), retail, and nursing quit. The jobs in these industries pay crap, deal with increasingly entitled customers, have a high risk for COVID. You are more likely to find abusive treatment from bosses and your company in those industries.

To counter the claims at 4:10
It's not a work problem, it's a worker problem
No, they've got it wrong. This is entirely a work problem - a problem of how employees have been exploited by their employers and, in many cases, customers.

I had to work from home last week, and after 2 months of working from office, I've seen just how everything I have at home...sucks hairy balls. Starting from the simple things like the desk and the chair which just made me uncomfortable last week, to the monitor and its appalling resolution and refresh rate, then the laptop (luckily I got one from the company), the mouse and keyboard, the ergonomics of it all... I literally can't even sit at my desk anymore, and I'm not kidding here. I can't even bother to turn on my old laptop. It's just painful. Just shows how good I have it at the office.

In Government jobs too not just retail or fast food industry. I just saw the minimum wage in America is $7.25 which is about $10.05 AUD compared to Australia's minimum wage which is $20.33 AUD which is $14.45 which is double that. I feel I have been exploited and I pushed my body to the limit and I am paying heavily for it and I now regret putting so many others first rather than myself and this has affected my ability to find a partner as well and I am being punished for it.

If I had studied what you did, I would go 100% WFH hahaha. I can see how WFH would be annoying, though, if you don't have an ergonomic chair or just don't like spending 8 hours at home.
I actually echo the same feeling about how the resolution is bad. Sometimes I have to bring my laptop up close because the system I RDP into has a super small font. A large monitor would help, but I haven't bought one yet.

That's the thing, it's not all that. I even enjoy working at the office. I can't be an antisocial programmer.

Same here. Its not even that the utlities are better suited for the job. In my line of work you have to spar with your collegues. critizise one another, sketch over someone's ideas etc. Designs rarely come to full fruition with just one person doing everything. especially the complex ones.

plus when i'm at home my spouse is usually like " you work to hard! play more with your son"

currently stuck @ home with the rona and can almost see the mountain of work piling up from not being at the office. 😟

Oh yeah, I get that. Get better man, hopefully it's mild or moderate and your family stays healthy as well.

Which is why people should be given the option to go fully WFH, hybrid, or fully at the office!

WFH is perfect for me, as I get to stay with my family/in my hometown for a little longer. I can do my job fully remote, and there are no responsibilities that need me on-site.

Have you ever focused only on songs from your own list? you didn't want to go beyond it, everything was weak or normal at best. hard to go beyond the limits do you have a prescription?

I get where he's coming from, but I have issues with his assertions and suggestions.
Mark Perna claims that you would expect millennials and Gen Z to have an easier time transitioning to WFH because they're tech-savvy, when in reality office vs. WFH preference depends on things like personality and other things you have going on in your life. Mark says that employees are "not informed," and that "being informed" would be one of the benefits of going on-site, but frankly that doesn't matter to me.
Mark makes a good point in that people who have 7-8 Zoom meetings barely have time to get their work done. Zoom fatigue is real, and so many meetings like that will feel draining. That being said, in my line of work I would have a more difficult time getting my own work done on-site. I would have random people walking up to me asking IT questions that aren't really part of my job. I will be distracted when people enter and leave the office area.
"Culture" is too vague of a reason to make employees return to the office. From 2021 onwards, you will have two kinds of companies: those that have flexible work arrangements, which will get the best job applicants (and thus best employees), or those with inflexible work arrangements, which will see brain drain as time goes on.

If you're an introverted entry-level employee, you will probably prefer WFH instead of going to the office. Less mental/emotional energy spent trying to please others, haha, and reaching out to managers is as straightforward as sending a Teams message. If you're an extroverted CEO, you will want to return to the office.
Personally, I would be fine moving on-site. I already know people in the area and could try to have something of a social life. However, at home I have my family, and to me that matters more than meeting random people from my company (outside my team). Plus, I get to save on rent and other expenses that would quickly pile up if I moved on-site.

To put it simply, I care more about my family, getting my work done, and having enough time for my hobbies (gym, kpop, trance, whatever) instead of serving my company's "greater good," "being informed" about what is going there at all times, or being part of my company's "culture."

Same here man, or at least it was during the first half of January. Bed-bound on odd days, on my legs on even days. Very strange. But ultimately, flu-like symptoms, quick test was negative (but possibly falsely so, due to its limitations). Recovered almost fully in about 7-8 days.

Must be annoying. I've kept myself protected, so luckily haven't had to suffer it at all yet. Hope you recover, and hopefully you didn't pass it on to any vulnerable people either.
