The Fast and the Furious (2001)

What a blast from the past! Straight back into my teenage years when I first watched it. I first found out about 2 Fast 2 Furious and loved it - only later did I discover the first part and the entire franchise.

The movie is absolutely still brilliant, even after like 5 times of watching it, and easily the best movie of the entire franchise. Constantly fun and fast-paced, and relatively grounded (especially in comparison to the other ones). It has its quirks, no doubt, but it's a movie that's a very dear favourite of mine despite them.

It's probably the reason why I love cars. What's ironic is, they did this movie as an homage to the street racing scene in LA, and the street racers got so much attention and coverage that they couldn't race anymore.

The soundtrack itself deserves an award. Right off the bat it sets those 90s/early 00s vibes and makes the movie so much better for it. Wonderful combination of different genres, really does have a Need for Speed OST feel to it. BT did a phenomenal job too.

Just tell me this wouldn't make your face melt at a party.

Ok, went onto a bit of a marathon.

2 Fast 2 Furious (2003)

Sooooo crap and nowhere near the first part but I still love it. Seeing that grey Skyline always makes my balls feel funny.

Tokyo Drift (2006)

A proper movie for car nuts. The engine noises alone are worth it. It's very similar to the first one, in that it combines the action and the storyline very well. And with the addition of the music and scenography, it almost feels like it was something that was really happening then and there.

Project Gemini (2022)
Low budget Interstellar, with monster. The acting was awful.

Shame (2011)

Painfully slow. In the first 30 minutes, we see Fassbender's thin, long hairy cock a couple of times, and a lady sings beautifully. That's basically all that happens in the first half hour. It gets a bit more eventful as the movie goes on but it's still slow as shit. One of those movies you have to "feel" and be in the mood for. Otherwise, pass. Spend your time wiser by watching proper porn.

The Batman - JESUS CHRIST AND EVERYTHING THAT IS HOLY that movie was incredible! Pattinson (Battinson 😄) did an a-f**king-great job at portraying Bruce Wayne/Batman to date. He plays Bruce/The Bat as an angry and conflicted type, he was only Batman for 2 years so it makes sense though. And how he was more of a detective in parts of the move is a homeage to the comics which, again, is great. Anyway, the riddler, finally being a worthy villain and not a goofy question marked wannabe 😂 I wonder what Reeves has in store for the next installement. Hopefully Scarecrow (my favourite villain) or maybe black mask ? who knows

Have you seen the joker deleted scene yet? I wish matt reeves had of done an extended cut of the movie. He filmed like 4 hours of footage, so there is alot missing from the movie.

Just watched Hard Kill. Haha it has to be the worst movie i have ever watched. Wow it was seriously that terrible 😝 Just check the IMDB ratings looool 🤣

Bruce Willis is washed up now. He hasn't made a good movie in a long while. Now he does straight to home video b rated action movies.

I watched Glass with him, Samuel J and James McAvoy recently. Wasn't the best considering I did enjoy Split.

The Batman (2022)

Unsure about Pattinson. Outside of the costume he seemed like quite an emo type and that he was a bad word away from crying. Did not like his microexpressions one bit. Besides that one scene at the end, I could not see any anger, something Bale was quite good at portraying. Bale's Batman came across as a millionaire who was quite charming during the day, but also intimidating in the costume. Pattinson's Batman looked like a reclusive type who was sad-angry all the time, like he hasn't really grown up since his tragedy. That said, I still think he did a decent enough job, especially if that was the idea.

Dano was outstanding as usual.

Besides that, the movie was consistently dark and gritty, no breathing room basically. While that has its perks, I thought Nolan had struck quite a good balance of seriousness and easier moments, of day and night basically; the range was larger so, for example, when Bale's Batman suddenly starts screaming WHERE ARE THEY, it has more impact.

The movie was quite nice though. A bit too long but then again it feels slightly chaotic, like the middle movie in a trilogy rather than a standalone one. I would've liked more expansive exploration of the themes of whether or not Gotham is worth saving, and if it can be even saved. A level below Nolan's The Dark Knight but I have to say not that far apart from The Dark Knight Rises. Certainly interesting throughout, and definitely worth a watch.

If you guys say it was the most realistic depiction of Batman yet, I'm inclined to believe you as I didn't read the comics. But I favour Nolan's trilogy, especially the first 2 movies. Joker was one the most terrifying villains in any movie, ever, and a clear inspiration for this movie.

Oh, I almost forgot...

Zoe Kravitz...goddamn!

Watched the Matrix 2 and 3 again, for the the first time in well over a decade. I wanted to re-familiarize myself with what were big favorites for me growing up, but this time through the eye of my adult mind thats become cynical, over-analytical and hyper dismissive of 99% of the artistic content that seems to comes my way...

I can say without hesitation that these movies are UNBELIEVABLE! Up there with the other great trilogies of all time! Were there people really claiming these movies were failures? Ok, the first Matrix is obviously the best but it was never envisioned as a part 1, always a stand alone. This meant that for 2 and 3 the writers had to come up with a story that could build successfully on top of an already complex and unique idea, trying to find cohesion and originality in its own right and make it feel like an epic tale across 3 movies.

It smashes that challenge out of the park. Whoever came up with the idea to have multiplying agent smiths running rampant in the matrix was a fucking genius! Not only is it fucking cool, It set up some of the best fight scenes seen in cinema and also gave Hugo Weaving this role that in my opinion rivals Heath Ledgers Joker. Agent Smith is the greatest cinema villain of all time actually. The intersection between his story, neo's path, saving zion, and understanding the lore of the matrix is done so well. It doesn't hold you hand which is a good thing. It winds in themes of love, choice, humanity, struggle etc into the movie in a the way a blockbuster movie should (simple), and for this reason you care and enjoy all the characters. Morpheus is a legend. Neo even is somehow likable and pulls it off. Trinity and the crew are great. Bane is top for his small role too.

Then the envisioning of the 'real' world, Zion, machine city.... wow... I did not remember how stunning, creative and incredible of a job they did. The interpretation of mechanical and tribal together is awesome, from the shots of the 'engineering level', cave rave scene, the homes, the ship designs that use magnetism to travel through pipelines of the machine world (so badass), the clear matrix feeling costume design. It doesn't feel Hollywood polished sci-fi, it's relatable, interesting and authentic. There is no CGI bullshit in every single moment. It feels more 'real' than the Matrix, even though that's the world we the audience are familiar with. Genius. It's a fucking marvel to look at and experience.

And let's talk about the CGI actually, because these movies came out in 2003, and they look fucking incredible. They don't over use it, but when they do it works 100%. When the machines pour through for the assault on Zion it is immense. There is so little that looks bad, it doesn't look 2003 at all. The whole battle of 3 is EPIC! We have gone backwards in making sci-fi worlds look and feel real and I think Matrix 2 and 3 might be the peak. The Freeway scene in 2 is also so iconic and still great to this day. Some genius ideas in there too.

I could go on but Ive said enough. There are things to improve, but honestly it is one of the great creative success stories in human history. The world, story and concept will be remembered long, long into the future.

Matrix 1 - 9.3
Matrix 2 - 8.8
Matrix 3 - 8.9
Trilogy - 9.4

I actually thought 2 and 3 were crap, especially because of those machines and what have you. Felt really unnecessary to me, never got the point of that. Mind you, that was ~10 years ago, but even if I rewatched them I'd probably think the same.

Unnecessary to have machine antagonists in a story about humans who escaped a machine prison, now living in a machine world in which machines hope to kill or enslave the human race. No point at all yeahhhhhhhhh
