New Mabel EP This might not be quite this forum's favorite style but Mabel is probably my favorite DJ of 2023.

Any genres currently having their 'Golden Years'?

Maybe I'm conflating the ideas of golden moment meaning "peak of quality music" and "peak of popularity." The two are widely different notions imo, though I guess they did coincide for trance, depending on who you ask.

Any genres currently having their 'Golden Years'?

Strongly disagree with this. It was popularized by those youtube channels and vaporwave-aesthetic simpsonwave videos but it was around (and frankly a lot more interesting on average) before that all came about. A lot of early vaporwave is quite avant-garde and definitely not a "functional"...

Any genres currently having their 'Golden Years'?

UK/neuro-inspired cinematic bass music/glitch hop/whatever people call it is having an amazing time right now, lots of young producers doing really incredible things. Think KOAN Sound (they're still kickin but they've gone more orchestral recently), but some other names include Stasys, Azaleh...

DJ Life - Southern Seas EP [Craigie Knowes]

Previews: DJ Life is another one of the more recognizable nu-trance names even if half of what he does is closer to tech house IMO. I've liked his juicier bass and drum grooves, plus use of more aboriginal-sounding synth choices. Those are showcased more on B1, Frayed. A1 is a pretty mellow...

Old School/Classic Trance Producers in 2020 (and beyond)?

Making that one ^ its own thread, sounds really nice. I've always liked DJ Life even if half of what he does is more tech house than anything. He's got really addictive and juicy grooves.

Modex - Adventures of an Omnivoyant Mind [Gestalt Records]

I agree with the majority here that they're all very similar, yet quite strong. Definitely going to collect the EP for my own usage. From the DJ perspective, it's quite nice having the ability to fine-tune your track selection (if you want to think about it that hard) and I always love how these...

OUT AbduI Raeva - Codeine [self released]

He's half, they're a duo. Great to have more of these guys (along with Rambal Cochet, RIGSON) over here!

Glen S - Elation Station (Album) [Craigie Knowes]

Upon full release, I'd say it's a pretty good release; some of the tunes are a bit samey but overall solid. Not touching Sleep D's album for AOTY though. Favorite tune remains Schponglen, Hands In The Air and Full Moon Party would be fun to hear played out too.

3 hour mix of general psychedelia James Holden! I imagine I'll be eviscerated for saying this here but I think he's only improved since leaving trance.

Sounding really good, Remotif's broken out for sure this year. IMO might be worth as a separate thread!

TranceFix Radio #14 - Psychedelic Pathways - Mixed by Hoplite

Looks like an awesome tracklist, right up my alley. Keen! That reminds me, it's about time to come out of hibernation and record a new mix or two soon. Been too busy writing up results...

Glen S - Elation Station (Album) [Craigie Knowes]

Previews: I've actually not been that much on the Glen S train in the past. I've usually found him to be one of the more predictable producers (much to @SaltAcidFatHeatAcid's chagrin). However, the previews of this album so far sound very strong! Here is Schponglen, coming in at a whopping...
