Enigma State - Of The Essence (Artist Album) [Transtate Records]

I did exactly this. At least one copy needs to be sent to Finland now. :D

What is your favorite recent remix/rework of a trance classic?

Some from the top of my mind. Few years ago Paul Sawyer made a version of Quench's Dreams which modifies it to nicely to more progressive sound. From the last year, I actually enjoyed Charlotte de Witte's rework of Universal Nation. Now of course, all these reworks are very very hit or...

Paul van Dyk - This World Is Ours (Artist Album) [VANDIT Records] (incl. John 00 Fleming)

My issue with this album is that it is almost there. I mean, it feels like all the required ingredients are there, but the end result is still bland. It is not just the PvD problem to be fair.

Above & Beyond - Bigger Than All Of Us (Artist Album) [Anjunabeats]

I also dare to say I am intrigued of this release. With both We Are All We Need & Common Ground I was positively surprised when hearing them. Sure it was pretty much pop trance (dance?), but in album length that style and those tracks worked surprisingly well. Even to the point where I decided...

Enigma State - Of The Essence (Artist Album) [Transtate Records]

I usually listen to the albums before I make a decision regarding the purchase. But in this case, I am ready to make an exception. While I am not all that excited about all Enigma State tracks, the quality has been consistently on a such high level that I am willing to buy the CD even before...

Solarstone - innermost (Artist Album) [Black Hole Recordings]

Yep. Ferry Corsten's Connect was the best trance album of the last year for me. But releasing majority of the stuff before the album doesn't actually make the album release itself exciting.

Enlusion — Midnight Mirage (incl. Basil O'Glue Remix) [BAGRUHM]

I have now came across with Basil's version couple of times. It is stellar!

    Survey: Bandcamp vs Beatport

When I buy stuff, I will first try to find it from Bandcamp. UX for both is torrid though. Beatport slightly better, but it is often slooooow.

Trance artists with their own unique sound and style

And the downfall of producers in quantity too. But yes, back then it was kinda clear when the track was made by Andy Moor. Rarer these days if we are not talking about The Digital Blonde. Even Orkidea nowadays it not as unique as he once was. The likes of Oliver Prime and Whirloop were really...

Trancefix Best of 2024 - RESULTS!

Thank you everyone for the last year. I always feel fascinated about the results our "hivemind" produces and I usually pick one or two suggestions from these lists into my playlists. And thank you for the comprehensive review of the results. I think explanations and scene reviews are the...

The Best of 2024 - What are your thoughts on this year?

Thanks for the heads up. Now I haven't been too active this year and it felt pretty hard to come up with any list. It is not just trance's fault though, my interest to music is up and down and this was the year where I wasn't overall as excited about music as I was in 2022/2023 for an example. I...

    Chicane - Trampolines (Artist Album)

Nice to see topic for this one! I listened to this on Friday. I was really pleasantly surprised. My initial thought was that this is the best Chicane album since Behind The Sun.

Ferry Corsten - Connect (Artist Album) [Flashover]

Even if so, based on released material this actually became surprisingly solid album.

Which Country spawned the best Trance Producers?

I think overall UK beats Netherlands. NL was maybe a bit too euphoric in comparison... Nitpicking though since all of those countries listed produced huge amount of great producers and tracks. Honorable mentions from me to Sweden (and Finland).

Adagio for Strings - Tiësto or Ferry Corsten ?

I prefer Ferry's version. But I can pretty much agree with both posts above. Both tracks are great, just made from a bit different point of view.

Trance really is dead. (At least in the mainstream)

Just a few thoughts which randomly popped out into my head. - I mean, trance (at least in it's more "underground" form) was really popular only a short period of time. However trance was the biggest or the second biggest genre of electronic music for many years. Electronic music itself was not...

Solarstone, Airscape, Super8 & Tab, York, ZOYA and Markus Schulz - In Search of Sunrise 20 [Songbird]

I like to see Solarstone's name here. I think he can make really enjoyable mix and he really could fit into the atmosphere. But six discs? Wow! That sounds quite excessive. I have my concerns it is bit too much and how well you can keep up with the quality. In a sense it could mean there's a...

    What's on your mind today?

Earlier this week I was visiting in few record stores selling used records. One of them had few CDs outside with ad "2 euros each". I browsed through them and found... Agnelli & Nelson - Hudson St. I actually hadn't listened to the album for whatever reason even if I have Everyday on my Spotify...
