What was the first ever 'Uplifting' subgenre track? Who coined the term?

It was not called Upliting Trance back then, it was called Epic Trance or Anthem Trance, and its origins trace to 1998, at the very least, although there were some tracks that could be considered Epic Trance already released before 1998, of course. The reality is much more complex actually. The...

Original Mix > Modern Extended Mix

Interesting that you say that because I can guarantee you I never went to a club not even once in my entire life. I just don't like the idea of it. I did go to some open air festivals though, but I very rarely if ever heard Trance in any form there. I did hear some Euro and Dream Trance...

Cosmic Gate parting ways after 27 years

Honestly, this does not surprise me. I mean, he's very close to 60 years old right now, at that point you probably are thinking about maybe living a more peaceful life out of the touring and all that, so this does not come out as a big surprise to me. About some of the stuff some people are...

My Anjuna25 - Your top 25 tracks from the label(s)

This is a tremendous list! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

My Anjuna25 - Your top 25 tracks from the label(s)

The whole Grammy nomination is a bit generic and even inconsistent in that department. I mean, "Who Let The Dogs Out" actually won a Grammy for best Electronic/Dance track against "Porcelain" by Moby, so, can we really take it that much seriously? I'm not disregarding the Cosmic Gate Remix of...

My Anjuna25 - Your top 25 tracks from the label(s)

Ok, regarding this list: It's not that this list is necessarily a bad list. To be honest, most of the tracks are actually really good and a considerable amount of them I would say they are or have become classics on their own merits, but I have to admit that there is a specific problem with...

My Anjuna25 - Your top 25 tracks from the label(s)

OMG! I love this one so much! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Anyway, here is my list. And, of course, Larry Mountains 54 is on there! By the way, there is no specific order here. All I can say is that I started to choose chronologically, but then I realised I had to change some tracks and some went out. The...

Which trance producers have quit for lack of money, begged for donations, complained about deals and financials?

    1. While it's not exactly wrong, the truth is that a considerable amount of Trance tracks promoted on big shows such as A.S.O.T. actually have vocals, in fact, most TOTY's of that show, if not the vast majority of them, are vocal tracks with pure instrumentals being a rather low minority. I can...

    Classic Trance Historical Breakdown [1987-2007]

Oh yeah! I love that remix! And the Commander Tom Remix? Oh boy, now, that's massive! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 And yes! Definitely! I find far more Trance in DJ Sammy, Ian van Dahl and the vast majority of those Euro-Trance acts of the late 90's and early 2000's than I find in most Dash Berlin, Gareth Emery and...

    Classic Trance Historical Breakdown [1987-2007]

Armin is very weird and incohesive in that department. He was always a big fan of dub versions and sometimes he does complain about some vocal tracks considering them much better as instrumentals, but at the same time he ends up promoting the cheesiest of the cheesiest vocal tracks there are out...

Design of my upcoming trance book (video and images) [Last updated: July 4]

I agree with Mark Reeder that probably Euphoria would have been a more appropriate name for the genre, and this would have probably made a more proper distinction from Goa-Psy Trance which appears to be a big problem in some countries like Portugal and Brazil in which people literally think...

    ATCR comes back?!

I have to admit, when I read this post the first time I was like: ATCR? Who's that? Then I saw it was a label and I thought to myself: Which label was this one? Then I checked out on Discogs and there I realised: "Oh, that one!" Let's see what they can bring! Their catalogue is quite...

    Rest in peace, Anderholm/Orbion

I did listen to some of his stuff as Anderholm. It's nice! Some really good Melodic House vibes there! So young! Only 30 years old! R.I.P.

    Airwave retiring from DJing

Yeah, I wasn't thinking it would be AI doing that. 😂🤣 The thing about "retiring" is that it hardly ever means a full "retiring", if anything it means a break and not a very long one. I remember not long ago Nitrous Oxide announcing he would "retire" from music, at least for a while, but he came...

    Classic Trance Historical Breakdown [1987-2007]

Look, if we're really going to do that, then probably most post-1998 Trance stuff, especially the more Epic-Euro-Euphoric and Vocal Trance stuff would probably go out because people were already complaining about the so-called "Watered down McTrance" since those times, I mean, Ferry was...

    Classic Trance Historical Breakdown [1987-2007]

It depends on the kind of Trance we're talking about. Once again, I'm not seeing that, I think everything is pretty much well-adjusted there. Beautiful Things is tremendous! One of my all-time favourite Post-Progressive Vocal Trance tunes!

    Classic Trance Historical Breakdown [1987-2007]

One could say it might be a bit poppier and more commercial-accessible than other tracks released at that time, but I never really saw it as cheesy, even to this date I still consider it a tremendous tune and I personally think it has aged quite well, I could still listen to it these days and it...

Video streams are net negative for Trance shows

Gen Z is very inconsistent, if you ask me.

Video streams are net negative for Trance shows

I don't think Above & Beyond are that picky regarding that. I mean, their videos of their Group Therapy radioshow usually only have small snippets of some livesets they did, the only videos they do are for livesets, not really for regular GT episodes.
