Is the 90s "revival" ("trance",acid, house, techno) scene a gimmick/fashion statement rather than a loveletter to the 90s?

A few thoughts, but I should post this interview from the UTE folks up front to give a sense of how they feel about their music (link here). I agree with Redrot, the marketing doesn't target trance fans, and in some cases, the artists/labels go our of their way to not even use the label trance...

Old School/Classic Trance Producers in 2020 (and beyond)?

Really dig this one, reminds me of a very specific sound in trance history. A new release from Radiant with a Yeates/Terenzi remix. Not sure about this one (or if it even fits this thread).

Old School/Classic Trance Producers in 2020 (and beyond)?

Haha b/c it's almost all classic prog/trance early-mid 2000's. Agreed though, love this sounds and a great Monday morning soundtrack.

Old School/Classic Trance Producers in 2020 (and beyond)?

Heard this in a mix recently. Very rough around the edges but it stood out in the mix for sure - 'what is this? I want it now'. It's a free self-release on Bandcamp. This one too off the same album: Here's a sound I haven't heard in a while. Reminds of the ATB era a bit:

Got two here ripped from my vinyl I've seen in the thread: Nephelim - Mirror World I think this one was requested a bunch of times. Quite a solid uplifting record: A. Nephilim - Mirror World AA. Nephilim - Synchronized DJ Wag - Life On Mars - The Y.O.M.C. mix was only released on this vinyl...

Hi there from Give Trance A Chance

Thanks for the shoutout mate. This forum has felt like more of a home than most of the trancey places of the web, although I'm a n00b here. There is quite the community, with good taste as well! You know where to find me :) Excellent score mate. Bruno Wolf is tops. His track Shinto was one of...

Old School/Classic Trance Producers in 2020 (and beyond)?

This EP sounds mostly in that housey zone, but track 2 (2:00-4:00), Ego Cheque, sounds so euphoric and trancey. Reminds me of something Seo John might produce.

Old School/Classic Trance Producers in 2020 (and beyond)?

Shame about the vinyl-only aspect... really irritates me given the shipping cost to the consumer in other countries, the environmental impact of both shipping and pressing records, etc. This set from Glen S is cracking, one of my fav producers/DJ's of 2022. He's got some tasty ID's I hope get...

What style/genre is this electronic music?

100% agree. While some of it is quite trancey, it's really groove based with a distinct house rhythm & clap. Also, trance at 121-123 bpm is quite rare IMO. I don't like BPM dividers but at slower BPM things really lean towards a house style. Vs stuff like this at 121-123 which I would consider...

Old School/Classic Trance Producers in 2020 (and beyond)?

This one was almost my TOTY haha. Mainly because I've been craving this type of proggy builder. That being said, when I downloaded it I immediately loaded it in to Ableton and made an edit to ~10 minutes to have as well. It was a PITA because of the way it builds up slowly. It misses a little...

The Trancefix Best of 2022 - Let's hear your thoughts

Canadian producer, making some excellent dark & atmospheric trance. It often reminds me of Goa, but it's kind of its own thing. She's definitely one of the best in the NuTrance scene.

Why you should listen to pre-1995 trance (+ some pointers)

Pete Lazonby - Wave Speech (Oliver Lieb Remix) Lieb has so many good tracks and remixes, this is an interesting one from 1995. A lot of unique sounds in this uptempo prog beaut.

I know this is not a FLAC but it is a copy from the Promo only CD and is decent quality, obv a digital release in 256kb. I'd spin in no question: https://mega.nz/file/LQVh2aAA#KKYAcG3oRzG-3vXoIS34uZ9TKPVwtr23crFvwTuSmpo

The Trancefix Best of 2022 - Let's hear your thoughts

We are conversing though in a 2022 voting thread though right? I'm not seeing significant innovation in the labels you mention, quite the opposite. Heck, a few of them don't exist anymore. I know you mean the sounds of the past which I love as well :). But this thread is about looking forward...
