Big changes for ASOT and/or ASOT events

This is barely news to me.

(Mostly) complete database of every classic trance track (100.000+) [status: 50%]

Well, for a genre that is pretty much thirty years old as of now, there would obviously be some tracks that would inevitably fail to stand the test of time, that's only natural.

    Similar trance tracks & rip-offs

Honestly, from my point of view, I think "Steroid Trance" had its start more or less in 2006 with productions like the ones I mentioned above, what differentiated them from the more classic forms of Uplifting Trance, especially the ones supported by Anjunabeats and A State Of Trance (the label)...

    Similar trance tracks & rip-offs

Oh yeah, definitely! That is quite noticeable for me, actually! We should also add Aly & Fila who literally can't produce, I'm still trying to understand how the heck they became popular in the first place. Let me also add in a more "steroid style" these tracks in particular: Sean Tyas - Lift...

    Similar trance tracks & rip-offs

Anticipation itself has a far better production, for example, nothing sounds way too loud or over the top in it and the track flows well, in general. In fact, I could include most of Lemon & Einar K's productions and remixes from 2008 here but if you want me to give you examples, sure, I have a...

    Similar trance tracks & rip-offs

I'm sorry but for me it sounds like it was done in a hurry with no proper quality control, even disregarding the rip-off issue, I just don't see why it's considered a Trance classic, if anything, I would say this track marked the beginning of the downfall of Trance, for me.

    Similar trance tracks & rip-offs

I somewhat care because I think it's important that people know the truth, it's the same issue with Quench - Dreams and Lost Tribe - Gamemaster, or Jam & Spoon - Follow Me and Dumonde - Tomorrow, you can like both or you can choose one over the other but the truth will always be: The second one...

    Unpopular trance/electronic music opinions

I don't know if they were produced that way but that's not necessarily a good thing, a lot of tremendous Trance classics were produced with the technology available at their time and they still sound better than most so-called professional productions these days.

    Unpopular trance/electronic music opinions

Wow! Thank you! This is what I've been saying for years! You have pretty much encapsulate everything I've been saying about Trance not dying gracefully when it was the time for it and being kept afloat like a Zombie, it's pretty much the same thing as The Simpsons. Really, thank you for saying...

Shocking stuff that destroys what was once our trance scene

Yes and no. I think what you mean by Trouse/Trance 2.0. is that kind of Electro-Sidechained-Trance that used to be extremely popular back then with the likes of Cosmic Gate, First State, Myon & Shane 54, Alexander Popov being probably the main producers of that style, eventually what happened is...

Shocking stuff that destroys what was once our trance scene

Well, at least Beatport finally corrected that back in late 2016. By the way, thanks for mentioning "Saudade", I'm Portuguese myself and it's great to see people mentioning one of our most iconic words. 😊🇵🇹

New major change on Beatport: The Trance Genre is divided in two

Technically you can choose it as a subgenre in the "Trance (Main Floor)" genre, but I agree with you, it should just be its own genre and that's it. It's basically the oldschool sound of the genre produced nowadays, something like this: By the way, this is easily the best track I found while...

New major change on Beatport: The Trance Genre is divided in two

So, I was recently checking out Beatport and I just realized that a new major change regarding its music genres has just happened: If you check out the music genres available on Beatport you'll see that, similar to the current division of Techno in two major branches (Peak-Time / Driving and Raw...

The Trancefix Best of 2022 - Let's hear your thoughts

This is actually great for me! I was actually having troubles choosing tracks to vote for but with more time it will be easier. Thanks for that, seriously!

Transitioning from one year to another has become rather uninteresting and banal

I don't think there's much to say about this other than when you reach a certain age certain things you thought they were such a big deal start to become rather pointless and banal, this is pretty much what transitioning from one year to another has become to me, and this isn't even new for me...

    Cheesy Trance Thread

Oh yeah, the Signum Remix is one heck of a classic! The Pronti & Kalmani Vocal Remix is also really good! Also, I just recently heard that Craig Connelly did a new version of "You Are Alive", it's impressive how back then Armin & co. wouldn't play anything by Ian van Dahl, DJ Sammy, Lasgo...

(Why) are there no new ideas in trance?

Thirty years later and this tracks still sounds as amazing as it did back then, for me it's the definition of Pure Trance, simple yet so captivating, always evolving during its +8min run, this is where Trance needs to return as soon as possible, in my very humble opinion. I remember listening...

(Why) are there no new ideas in trance?

This is a very good post and it really touches on many of the pretty bad ideas Trance has been having in the last ten to twelve years or so, although, I feel that I have to correct you in some cases: Both Steroidlifting and Pop Trance, or Commercial Trance like you call it are actually older...

Genres are a mess and no one knows what to do about it

Melodic Techno is basically Progressive Trance in disguise, in fact, Armin, Ferry, A&B, Cosmic Gate and a few others have been playing this kind of music in their radioshows for quite some time and when I sometimes listen to their radioshows I just think: "Ok, we're finally seeing the return of...
