    iTunes

Anybody else noticed that the sound quality of files purchased on iTunes is better than everywhere else? A fuller and richer sound pretty much every time. It might be to do with Apple's patented technology. After all, they were the industry leader when digital music became popular in early...

    HH - I.C.E. EP [1999]

Thanks to Berlin Dub Mix. Oh yes 💪 ICE 897 ICE 794 Gigolo remix From the producer himself: it was the second EP produced together with Ray Boyé and the second release of myself on my lown abel "Planetary Consciousness". ICE is the name of a fast train in Germany and the ICE 794 is the...

Sébastien Léger — Extassy / In A Distorted Galaxy [Lost & Found]

Extassy is just so cool and interesting with its chopped vocals, funky elements and trancy synths. A really well worked and original fusion that will tear up any dance floor. Liking the deeper vibe and the gentle piano of IADG too.

Man With No Name - Vavoom! (1998)

Words can't describe how much I love this record. It gets better with every listen even after 20+ years of listening to it. There's so much going on, so many different layers, and the main riff is superbly powerful. MWNN you are a legend! Worth mentioning that I first heard it on this...

Liquid Child - Diving Faces [1998]

One of the tracks that got me into trance. The original is accessible without being cheesy. It sounds simple but is actually a superbly balanced production and musically genius. The pads are ethereal, synths crispy and it's full of nice sounds and effects throughout. Even the whispering vocal...

    Ayla - Angelfalls (1999)

This came out in late 1999 which for me was the peak of trance. 1999 was an amazing year with bangers and classics being released on a weekly basis. Then towards the end of the year, just when you thought you'd heard it all, along came this, Digger - Church of Ra, Ferry's remix of Adagio, and...

Corin Bayley pres. R3BORN3 - Buying Time (Pure Neon)

This one slipped under the radar somewhat. Cracking little uplifter

    Ninesh Babu - Tribe (JOOF)

Sounds good when turned up loud, quite a busy track. Tribal prog maybe with some melodic elements. A change of direction for the label in 2022 according to John's post on Facebook starting with this.

Tastexperience - Tantrix (Johan Gielen remix) [Black Hole]

Really like this uplifting remix. He's retained aspects of the original like the gorgeous vocal and the oriental strings. On top of that he's done a great job of composing entirely new and epic lead synths. Synths are a bit on the thin side but overall everything fits well as a package.

    Best of: Solarstone's labels

So, what are your favourite tracks on the Pure family of labels. There must be over 1000 releases out by now on Pure, Neon and Progressive, really flying the flag for trance. This one is quite simple but works so well.

Basil O'Glue & Nomas - Falling Together [Steyoyoke]

Love the dark atmospheric sounds in the background, the bouncy bassline and the synths. Just wish the synths would go on for longer. Another cool colab between BOG and Nomas.

Solarstone - Pale Blue Dot [Pure Trance]

I'm surprised this one never got a mention on this forum when EA4 came out. One of the most beautiful tracks from the compilation, ethereal vocals, pads, synths....

Glynn Alan - Shuttlewood (Lost Language)

The treble is turned up a bit too high but otherwise the original a great track @GlynnAlan

    Natious - Flashpoint (1999)

First heard this on the Gatecrasher Disco-Tech compilation in 1999 and it blew me away. It's still in my top 10 ever, and it's all about the Christian West's 'Feel' mix 1. An amazing crisp production with sounds and effects like they were produced by bashing and rubbing together bits of...

Activa & John Dopping - It Never Ends [2019]

The best I've heard from Activa. Love the crystal clear production and ice cold melodies.

Solarstone & Dreams of Wires - Equilibrium [Pure Trance]

Pretty clever this one - tech, breakbeat and uplifting all combined in the same track. Great stuff.

Pablo Gargano - Solaris (Pure Progressive)

As soon as saw the words Pablo Gargano and Pure Progressive together I knew it was going to be a winner. And it didn't disappoint. We welcome Pablo Gargano to the Pure shores particularly warmly, as he is something of a legend in the world of progressive, being the man behind the seminal Eve...

Roland Klinkenberg - Inner Laugh (1998)

One of my all time favourites, the original was released on RK's own label SIM in 1998. It was the re release on Lost Language in 2000 with a plethora of brilliant remixes that brought it to my attention. Each remix offered something different whist keeping that simple but spooky melody...

    Vibrasphere - Compilation Tracks 1999–2007 (2021 Remastered)

A quality compilation of Vibrasphere's early works remastered for 2021. Lots of variety and some real gems to be found on here, my favourites are The Open Sphere, Orange and Bitter Deep.

Gary Afterlife - Wavering Light [Pure Trance]

Another one from EA4, and an interesting one. The bassline is really cool and changes after the breakdown for the main verse, then comes back in for the outro. Nice subtle melodic touches with the piano and strings too. Gary Afterlife, haha!
