Ok... Now we have a serious player to stay one of the best trance tracks of the month... At least 😍

22th April on Pure Progressive :)

Finland's Anssi Hohti a.k.a. Allende just keeps making brilliant records and again we beggar the question; why is he one of Finland's most underrated producers? Probably both Anssi's lack of interest in doing the DJ thing or absence of a thirst for stardom can answer that question. All that backstory just means these three versions of Midnight Train were produced out of pure passion, with no agenda - probably one reason why this is such an original and refreshing track. There are subtle hints of Kraftwerk in its polyrhythmic synth work across all 3 mixes, but each has its own vibe. The Original covers a lot of ground stylistically and features all the hooks but for the club mixes your first port of call should be the Back to Basics mix with its forcefully driving twin-303 lines, renaissance-esque drum programming and credible melodies. The Stripped Mix has more of a lo-fi analogue sound to it, like it could have been ripped from a rare early 90's vinyl.

good "organic" feel and nice textures/atmo/harmonics, but not a fan of the kicks and overall sloppy sloth half-speed dry percussions he's using. they take away from the synths imo. the flow and fluidity is kinda missing because of this. I dont like this inbetween tempo either. its too fast for being a slower tune but too slow for it be driving or more fluid

Feel almost sorry to say I'm not feeling this. The ideas have a lot of potential, but somehow these all feel a bit too stripped down, or unfinished. I quite agree with Daysleeper. Happy to see him experimenting and trying out different things though.

Jeez guys brutal feedback, I guess not underrated at all.

I have no idea why the effort is not translating, but I can assure you I did work really hard on this and it took months to complete it. But that's just how it goes sometimes. The main idea was to do something, atmospheric, progressive, hypnotic and with techno influences, there's even a straight up techno section in two of the mixes. The original mix has bunch of different sections and different leads as well as polyrhythms and different time signatures in parts. There's hundreds of tracks in this release, but I guess it's mixed a bit minimally at times so it might come across as simple and unfinished, i don't know. The tempo at 122bpm is also the slowest I've ever done, so I don't know where the too fast idea comes from. I like to work on slow below 130bpm tempos and try to make them sound as fast and driving as possible (bunch of 16th notes etc), so I guess it's just that.

The original mix is suppose to be a bit of a journey in more modern style with different organic sections. The back to basics mix goes into early 90's atmospheric acid trance terratory with 909 drums and all that. And finally the stripped down mix is even simplified version of that, with few sections and sounds cut off and everything made more dry, minimal and lofi.

Thanks for taking a time for listen, and I do hope you give it another go when the full length versions come out. Can't say I'm not disappointed on the negative reception, but it is what it is, on to the next one :)

I don't know about the others, but I will give those another chance once they come out. In my book, you more than deserve that. It wouldn't be the first time your track I initially disliked grows on me once I hear it in full.

Well.. you focus on the negatives. If you read objectively, the comments on your track weren't so bad.

Topic starter loves it.
First reply loves it.
Second appreciates various aspects but not all
Thrid also appreciates various aspects but not all
Fourth calls it boring

My conclusion would be: pretty well received. Let's face it, if Daysleeper likes various stuff about your track, it's actually pretty good.

Focus on the positives ;)

I for one love the "safri duo" esque tribal sounds, as well as little reversed-effects. I also like how it goes from sort of "happy mellow" to "strange hypnotic".

The "Back 2 basics" version offers a nice club alternative.

Production itself sounds really good to me. Pretty unique sounding. I bet @jetflag likes this too.

As someone who has been listening to “Essence” every single day since it released and that still gets goosebumps almost every time by it, I can say I was eagerly waiting for the next project and I am really liking it from the preview, I know something special will come out of it once we get the full version.

The melodic ideas are really not my taste. Even feels disharmonic and unpleasant for my ears at some parts...Im usually a fan, but this is a no no...

Only midget samples but I have to say it is blowing my mind already with the synths. I am excited to hear the fullness of the track.
