4 track EP, out Dec 6.

Starbeams is pretty speedy, I like it in the first half, but then does get a bit awkward sounding for me as it goes on.

Starbeams

Sour Streamers

love the fact that UTE doesn't care one bit about this annoying trend of edm music going increasinly slower in bpm.

150 bpm + pouncer

love it.

I feel like these tracks are catered towards 18-25 year olds thats into the 90s revival "rave" thing righ now..

I mean the tracks offers something very different from modern mainstream "trance" to say the least, but for me whos a bit old:er and hasnt really got the energy and spirit of a 20 year old anymore, its not that appealing to me. I can appreciate the production but I need something a bit less "ravey/druggy", more nuanced and above all more musically interesting, and this is just not that interesting in all honesty.

I know what you mean. Alpha Tracks productions are probably my least favorite on their roster, for the exact reasons you mentioned. I dont know if its an age thing for me as still love hardcore metal and full bangers i.e music with energy, but I find these a bit repetitive and uninteresting. My main criticism of the Trance revival so far is that the storytelling and journey aspect is usually the key piece thats missing (in favor of house grooves instead)

Rest of the EP added to post

Meh, it's right up my alley.
Will likely get the record as I've had UTE's last 3

Personally, I think Alpha Tracks were one of the more versatile ones on their roster if you dig further back into their collection when they were producing borderline techno, see for example Orange and Fear of Missing Out. For their newer stuff post 2020 I'd agree though. Def agree on the last sentence as well, and there are a number of artists who rely on the house grooves so much its almost as predictable as uplifting (Guy Contact a big example of this)
