I have checked Ekkel's SoundCloud. He says that he is the co-founder of UTE.REC, and also head of Peak Experience.I’m wondering why it was not released one of UTE’s sublabels that typically home the slower and deeper outputs. Two Bachs runs UTE doesn’t he? Seems odd he would choose to release one someone else’s label
90+ pre-orders on Bandcamp, and those are just the non private ones. Seems worth it to me.17 Euros for an 8 track album is steeeeeep
They used to cost around 12 euros back then but they could up to 20 euros or 25 euros. Just keep in mind I am converting USD to euros.Follow is excellent, the other two released tracks I am yet to make up my mind.
€17 does at the high range. What did physical Trance albums back in the day used to go for? It's been so long now since I've bought one.
when I started with vinyls it was from 7 to 12 euros, but 17 euros in 2025 is a correct priceThey used to cost around 12 euros back then but they could up to 20 euros or 25 euros. Just keep in mind I am converting USD to euros.
Hi everyone! Teo aka Alvar/Ekkel here. I made this account when we did the Ute interiview and somebody told me there is a thread here about my album so wanted to have a look and say thanks for checking it out and for all the nice words. It means a lot <3
About the pricing its something i have thought a lot about and i really dont think its unfair at all. Every single process of releasing music has gotten at least 30% more expensive last couple of years, while the standard Bandcamp pricing for labels has barely moved (Vinyl prices has recently adjusted luckily) Also for this project i paid for the best mixing, mastering and pressing services there is. Of course the greats back then did not charge the same amount for a release, also did you pay the same for a pint of beer then too?
I invested 6000 euros of my own money into this project and im a broke musician. If i only did a digital/CD release and mixed it myself the price would reflect that. I did not set the price high because i think my music is better than anyone elses, its because of what i invested in it.
Also i upload all my music for free to Youtube without any ads running because i want everyone to be able to listen for free. But when it comes to Bandcamp most purchases are from DJ's who are making money playing my music in their sets (Who also had their DJ fees increase 30% last couple of years) and they need to start supporting the producers who are carrying this scene. Projects like Aslice has good intention but will never work, it needs to be forced.
For you its obviously not worth 17 euros, but as its the most sucsessful pre-order ive seen on any of our labels it looks like it is for others.
I saw another thread here discussing why the music was better in the 90s-early 00s. Its 100% because of the producers made enough money to do it full time just off record sales. If you make a living of underground electronic music at the moment you are touring like crazy and dont have time to get to that level.
Sorry for the bitter rant haha. Thanks for the support over the years too <3
Thank you!So pumped for the album mate, supported. This one is a bright spot in a sea of meh, and well worth the price. Keep up the good work. If it helps, most of this thread is about how amazing the album is. AOTY material.
Any other stuff coming from UTE in the near future?
