The tech-part from ~1:16 to 3:08 (right before the underlying melody starts) is insane. Arisen might be remembered for its intricate melodies and elaborate, well-executed breakdown and climax, but I can't stress how good that whole section is. It feels like it would fit in a futuristic video game (ex. Mirror's Edge) or in the OST of a cyberpunk movie (ex. The Matrix).

This track made me feel like no other ever did. When I first discovered it on Armin Only '06 DVD I think, I listened to it for 2 hours on repeat. And for the entire time, I was in a state I've never experienced before or since. I think that was the moment when I really fell in love with trance in general.

This was, for a long time, my #1 favourite trance track, but as time passed, I've discovered a number of tracks that replaced it. Still, an amazing classic.

Wouldn't say that. He's had lots of great tracks - though I agree that the popularity of this one overshadowed all of his other works, unfortunately.

To be fair, around the time of Arisen he pretty much quit producing original tracks. His Luminary project also split up in late 2006. Beyond that he only has a few writing and arrangement credits.

If you think about it, Arisen might as well have been his magnum opus, his last hurrah before quitting music production for good. That could be why it's so good.

He didn't quit music for good, maybe trance. Every now and then he post some ambient pieces on his Soundcloud, albeit pretty rarely.

Well he made that one great original which is regarded an all time classic - but he never really made anything else - cant really think of many Trance producers who did that. Unless he ghosted a load and we didnt know about it. Its clear he couldve made a lot more great tracks..

He made quite a number of tracks under Arksun, Luminary and Hidden Logic. Regardless of their popularity, they were all pretty damn good. You can feel that his tracks were really meaningful, more than productions - something the scene can learn from.

He didn't like the direction trance was taking (that's why he won't come back)...and he said that his first love were always film scores.

I think one of the members of the old TF had it tattooed on his arm.
