As I said I think he is just slurping the last few drops from a bottom of a barrel but it's too little too late should have done this 15 years ago. He is finally distancing himself from Trance.

538 Dance Department is the brand-new radio show of Armin van Buuren on Dutch broadcasting station Radio 538.
Every week, the five-time #1 DJ in the world presents the biggest dance tracks of the moment, spotlighting exclusive tracks,
new trends and special guest mixes from some of the hottest acts in the world.

This week's show features tracks by John Summit, Tiesto, KX5, Skream, KRYDER, Vintage Culture and Yotto.
This week's Hotmix is by Morten.

What do you guys think?

I believe it's a good thing. It will certainly make forum people less angry, so that's surely one of the reasons why I support it.

So is he shutting his ASOT radioshow completely and replacing it with this?

If so I'm all for it. Trance wise, the man lost the plot ages ago, at least this new name sounds more honest.

Dance department is or at least was a known show in the Netherlands. Wondering if he is simply taking that over?

Asot 2023 lineup was revealed yesterday… a full techno stage… some 138-steroid and slow bleepy “modern progressive”.

I don't think he will shut down ASOT most likely he will give it to Ruben and Ferry Corsten. Kinda like Mark Pledger and Super 8 & Tab and James Grant did for Anjunabeats worldwide.

yes he is simply taking over the existing show Dance Department on Radio 538
Interesting this says otherwise saying it's a brand new

"commercial dance" was basically trance in the 2001 + era. at least in NL. So no surprise that Dance Deparment anno now takes on a more EDM/House approach.

As for armin being completely severed from Trance now, I don't really think so. I think he's just seperating the "world DJ act" from the style itself like what he did with Gaia.

Wouldn't at all surprise me if he kept ASOT as a radioshow.

Wonder if the Trance Classics crowd will cling on to him with the same zeal they clung on to Tiesto? 😝

Not a surprising move this though given the big room edm garbage he’s been filling his albums and live sets with for years.

Ferry Corsten has also followed the same direction as Armin starting a new radioshow it's been happening for past 2 years.
