This is my thread to post my works in progress & finished tracks.

My request to you beautiful people is for feedback, suggestions and advice about these tracks, with the hope to be able to put something together for release on Trancefix recordings ❤️

Some tracks will be finished.

Some tracks may literally be scrach pad ideas or sometimes tracks which i did before I developed skills but that have 1 or 2 elements I think are worth pursuing (I will try and label tracks appropriately incase some prefer just to listen to tracks in the mid / late stages of development or to finished tracks only.

Many thanks guys.

Would be cool if other trancefix members did the same if perhaps like me have not released Dance tracks before. And off course if you have released tracks then it would be cool to do also (plus thats gonna be of help to those that haven’t released before to learn from)
Have a good one

✌️

‘Structures Of Sound’

I wrote this fairly soon after getting back into composing after a 22 year break (yes 22).

it was around 8 months in and around Oct 2020. I had just bought Synapse audio Dune3 so it was the first music i made using it.
- I was still finding my bearings with the huge changes there had been in music production technology.

I stumbled accross this tune the other day. It needs a lot of work. But I think it is the purest track Ive written.

It has a haunting religious feel

- I have many ideas to improve or finish it but please comment on the general feel and then what you might improve it with.
Many thanks ❤️

That first one isn't bad.

I don't like the beat though. The kick is weak, the clap lacks some punch too. There's not much going on beat-wise. Would be good to add some hi-hats. I don't hear much other percussion either. With some more FX you can glue parts together better.

The arrangement needs work too. With that intro and outtro no dj will play it.

But hey, the melodies / atmosphere does feel nice.

Thanks Magnevi, I totally agree with everything you said. As I mentioned its just a work in progress i made before i got any kind of confidence in song construction.

i just put it here because i think the ingredients if expanded and altered and lots added to the track could make it a nice track. Basically its a bare bones idea.

Liking it. has IMVHO a good trancey feel and recognizable elements of Leama & moor and the early work of Progression in it. I think you've nailed the athmospheric part and the melody side of things.

I concur with @Magnevi 's critique of it not being DJ friendly aswell as the percussion bits, but I like the overall feel it projects.

Thank you jetflag.

In terms of a track to work on for potential release if i can get it to standard, the first here ‘Structures of Sound’ would be a good one to develop?

I must admit, I thought it had a more classic feel than the second one i posted. ( that’s probably more modern)

cheers

Yep some nice melodies and melodic atmosphere. Percussion/beat could be more interesting, less standard. Needs a proper arrangement. As mentioned maybe look at other tracks for reference, why not Leama & Moore as thats kind of a vibe here.

The arrangements are definitely lacking. I'm not saying you should follow the same old formula everyone else does nowadays, but at least some structure could be useful. The ideas have potential though, so I'd work on the arrangement first - then we can see what's missing, what can be done better etc.

it starts very nice, then there is definitely no idea to develop the theme, a lot of monotony, even for a progressive track. for me it is the biggest problem to create something interesting

Thanks man. I agree.
Yeah as it is, its a very very basic track. But i made it when i didn’t know much about the technology and used to get obsessed with starting new tunes all the time. Im glad that people like some of the elements to it as i have quite a few ideas of what do do with it. I have 2 favorite parts of the track. The higher pitched arpeggio and the bass Arpegio. Especially the bass as i love that kind of springy energetic direct pluck bass with delay effect.

ive loved that kind of sound since first hearing ‘ Steve Silk Hurley-Jack your body’ first house record i ever heard around 1986/7

Hey, please use the thread titles accordingly - named to a specific work of yours, and it can have a genre label as well, but not much more. You can create new threads for your tracks to help drive engagement. Check out the rest of the threads in this section if you need help with naming.
