It's great to have Basil O'Glue back on Forescape with a wicked 2-track EP called 'Kodex'! The title track delivers a top notch infectious techno groove straight away. Haunting atmosphere and a timely cadence give this one all the tools to control the floor and delight your sound system. Deep moving bass tightens the groove nicely and the tasty FX sounds add an extra dimension to the sound alongside trademark Basil O'Glue futuristic synths. The main lead comes into the game in the breakdown and builds into a powerful groove that will not disappoint. On the other side we have '1999', a track dedicated to the golden era of Progressive Trance and you can clearly hear it from those old-school arps and effects in the intro. Atmospheric textures and mesmerising synths work perfect here and build up to the breakdown part where the magical main lead starts playing. At this point you get teleported to the early 00's as that big melodic synth pattern takes no prisoners, what a wicked release!

Here's the title track called Kodex, followed by 1999 soon :)

Nice and slightly twisted. Love (some of) the sounds. Can't wait to hear the 1999!

Oh yeah, this is wicked and awesome. Fantastic stuff from Basil. I've lately found his tracks rather boring and/or uninspiring, but this is right down my alley. I don't really have anything negative to say about this track, can't wait for 1999.

1999 is a good track, but we have Solarstone & Orkidea with Slowmotion 5 and Rebel Time.
Take Me On Your Flight is in the same zone too.
No need to produce more tracks with exactly the same atmosphere.
This just isn't very impressive, when you're a Solarstone and Orkidea fan.

Really like Kodex though, and also the slightly older Veil.

Both tracks are quality and the good stuff just keeps coming on Forescape - well done.
1999 is my preferred of the two as it has that unashamedly euphoric vibe compared with the darker sounding Kodex. Kodex is somewhat reminiscent of the old Oliver Lieb track 'Paragliders - Change Me' and that's not a bad thing by any means. Basil is one of my favourite producers at the moment and I've been loving his releases on JOOF.

Although I would not say that either release is mind blowing, compared to the generic, cheesy junk that gets promoted in some other posts on this forum, this kind of trance/prog is on another level in terms of sophistication, vibe and production quality.

In terms of feedback I would suggest that the melody segments could be made longer in tracks like these as a way to make them more enjoyable. From the clips you've posted it sounds like the main melody segments are about 60 seconds long in each track after the breakdown. There is definitely euphoria and energy in those melodies so why not make them that little bit longer for longer enjoyment. Maybe introduce a second segment at some point or make the main one longer? Wicked basslines too, by the way.
Overall, keep up the good work.
