Im usually not into vocal trance, but damn...this is soooo good, soooo fkn good!!!! After 2 years its finally going to be released. It will be probably a TOTY, there is no doubt about it, after 2 years of massive hype, there is no other option.
I love this one, surely the best vocal trance track of the year :)
9/10

Another Novelli Emma Hewitt female over-emotional pop voice. So boring. We have heard this track dozens of times now.

These type of tracks are way too much centered around the vocal. The vocal should be just a layer in a composition. Not… the only layer.

i mean, just because it has steroid beats under it, you call this vocal trance? Its simply pop with loud drum-samples. Not vocal trance.

ah of course, the breakdown, with a piano. And cringy even more extremely “emotional” omg I have to cry, vocals.

insert generic pluck, and freezer will give it tune, of the year.

This is exactly why I rather listen to Spain’s Eurovision entry than to current trance. That song doesn’t take itself seriously. just fun. But all these 138-emotional-pluck tracks take themselves wayyyyy toooo seriously. Cringe.

No, I just said it will proably win ASOT voting. Its not my personal Tune Of The Year. Definitely one of the best vocal track tho. I just speak for what I see around me, I see the hype, everywhere (of course except here, but well...everywhere else...)

I agree with the part that this could be concidered as euro dance track os something. But well, good music is good music, no matter what style it is. And this is good for me...

I still wonder why u still consider me as a 138 guru, lover or sth. You can see clearly that my most favourites comes from Slam Duck, Digital Blonde, Activa, Basil O Glue....thats my favourite territory, but my taste is quite wide and I can appreciate other styles and subgenres as wel...

I think it is better that you stop listening to music as a whole.....
The crap that is on the radio nowadays has been done millions of times before! And yet everyone whoreships Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes, Dua Lipa or Harry Styles..... "Because they are sooooooo good".
But 99.9% of the current radio music is absolute garbage....

Same for 99% of the tracks that are posted on this forum nowadays!
Most of them are below 130bpm boring crap!
I'm starting to wonder if this is still Trancefix or Progfix??

Maybe I should think of leaving the forum and find a forum with less drama

Not sure why you did not conclude "stop listening to trance". That would make sense. Why as a whole? There's a lot of music that I enjoy.

I disagree with you that pop does the same thing for decades. I think sometimes there are fresh things in pop. For example Justin Bieber's "Purpose" album, the one with lots of Skrillex-productions. That's a great piece, fresh, unique sounding productions, eventhough it's still pop.

I also really like new album from The Weeknd. The commercial hit "Take My Breath". With a bit of disco / synthwave in there. Love it. There's unusual parts in (some) of these productions. Like "How Do I Make You Love Me". Besides the smooth vocal, those little synth lines and stuttery sounds make it really fresh.

Discovered on Eurovision, the Ukraninan band Go_A, is also interesting. More interesting than current trance. "Shum" was their Eurovision song, which is really cool as well. A strange blend of Ukranian folk, with electronic dance. Can't get fresher than that? Try "Kalyna" too.

---

Back to trance then. Fortunately, my knowledge of trance history is quite big, but not as big of some of the hardcore fans on the forum. For me, there is still lot's of unknown old tracks to discover. Slusnik Luna "Sun" is a recent one. Many Fire & Ice tracks I only discovered last year. Active Sight. Yeah, there's great music still to be found (for me).

But you are close to the truth my Zandvoordian friend. This weekend I wrote in our little admin-chat that I will fade away into the background here. For many months I only get little joy out of this forum. Not a good balance with the frustrations I get when confronted with endless bad music (objectively bad, in my opinion). Frustrations that many of those tracks gets praise. And when I try to explain why tracks are objectively not very good, I am the bad guy. The old whiner. People just don't agree with what I think are facts.

So my conclusion for a while now is: I should just let you guys enjoy your MacDonalds burgers. And I can invest that time in friends, family and offline hobbies. Maybe it's just an age thing. At the end of the day, it's all about the simple question: what makes you happy? :)

Well of course. I know there are lots of us who are frustrated by the endless stream of genericness. For lot's of us, it's a shame to see talents come with this. I mean... ten years ago... I really liked Ben Gold. He had some great Emery-ish tracks. So to put a positive spin on this thread:

The crap that is on the radio nowadays has been done millions of times before!

This style of Trance is like that same equivalent of radio music I think, at least to the ears of many. It. It shares the same commercial and preciatable nature and is the most samey in the entire genre pretty much. I think people can feel the same things you mentioned about radio music if they have a more serious angle to their taste. Personally that is not me, but I do understand. I like this track! Though I recognize there is nothing advanced or special about it, its cliche and predictable but I enjoy it. Its not as bad as its being made out to be. I dont care though, I am like Freezer I have a mixed taste.

These type of tracks are way too much centered around the vocal. The vocal should be just a layer in a composition. Not… the only layer.

There are so many classic vocal Trance tracks that are centered around the vocals, with no clever layering. This morning I listen to Solarstone - Like A Waterfall it was great.

I wasn't going to bother replying, but it's amazing coincidence that you mention this one. I had just listened to it the night before reading this topic, and when I read the comment that 'vocals should just be another layer' (wrong), it was the very example I was going to use. Like A Waterfall would be far too empty as an instrumental. I would say most/all good vocal records are where the vocal came first, and the track is written around that to give them the space and focus. Tracks that stand alone as an instrumental and then have a vocal squashed on top rarely improve a record.

I can't say which way round the track in the OP happened, but it certainly sounds like the latter. I disagree that it sounds like the vocals have been given the focus.

Lol. You think you proove me wrong with a track with my favorite vocalist from one of the very few actual good trance producers?

Its a bad example and not the type of vocal I was pointing to, at all.

Jes always delivers vocals that blend really well into a track. And that’s exactly what I meant: it blends, so with all other stuff going on, it combines into something.

the vocal is there to ‘help’ the track.

While many vocals are just there, “in your face”, and they are the main and only ‘event’. There are beats, a bass, but the vocal claims all the attention, with huge overreacted lines: OOOOHHHHHHHH I LOOOOOOOOOVE YOUUUHOUUUHOUUU.

Jes never sings like that. Always subtle, and sexy. And Solarstone puts around it lots of details, little synths floating around.

It’s not at all what I meant with my statement. :)

disagree in the sense that comparing Rest of our lives with Like a Waterfall is a bit like comparing Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody with Nickelbacks - photograph
"because the're both centred around a male vocalist with rock guitars"

if for nothing else for the fact that solarstone's production on that track is far from template trance.

No no!
You can stay.....
If I look at 99% of the tracks that are posted here on the forum, I am the one with the bad taste!
Because I find 99% of the tracks posted absolute garbage.....

I love faster paced tracks of 136 BPM and higher.
But it is very hard to find these tracks on this forum.
And if 1 gets posted..... It gets the "Has been done a million times'' label!

So it looks like it is me who is the problem.

Enjoy your stay (Y)
