Found this in my dropbox. My friend Geoff ( Stonedove) made a prog house track and in the past 2 years I attempted to remix it. ( i started 7 versions lol)

This ones 70% finished.
The mixing & levels are poor.

What do you think of the feel and arrangement?

Is it worth working on for a potential release through trancefix record label.

cheers

This is very nice. I think if you come up with a nice structure and refine it a bit - just send it to Solarstone. Trust me the guy listens all songs that are send to him and this has Pure trance vibes all over it.

Yeah I noticed lately I almost don't have mixes that I don't play at least one song from his label on it. And I check all trance releases on beatport this year. At this point I don't even remember names of songs and artist since I go through so much releases 😆

Some lovely textures in there, especially in the mainpart and they feel full and alive despite the non-mixing/mastering issue. Reminds me abit of Reii's stuff from 2010-2015. Personally I prefer something with a little more edge to it rather than this overly smooth" clinical snappy clean samples/sounds that is pretty prominent especially in the build. Never was into into this fingersnapping snare/hat or whatever it is for example. Maybe try to contrast the overall atmospheric lush city-jungle-utopia-sound with a touch of eerieness/darkness here and there. It does have a little bit of that already, but somehow I feel it needs something more.

The arrangement is obviously lacking right now, but overall has big potential. I do think its worth working on yes, maybe for a tf release, what say you @Hensmon @Gagi ?

Sounds wonderful actually. With a proper structure, this track would be an instant favourite. I believe we'd defo sign it, I know I would!

Hi Gagi!

Thank you for your kind words about the track. And thank you for liking the idea of it being released with trancefix label once finished. Ive been doing a few hours on the tune today actually and a bit yesterday too. Its sounding more tidy now but still work to do. Be interesting to see what Hensmon thinks. Me and my friend Geoff ( Stonedove) would certainly be excited to release it with you. Thanks

@Gagi
Ive made progress. Still quite a lot to do on arrangement. Eq better, ( did a bit of mastering on cloudbounce)

For some reason it recorded the vox with a downward pitch bend which i didn’t actually create. Just a mixdown glitch ( probably because theres so many fx on that sound)

fairly happy with much of it but due to time could not alter everything ( few gaps that would not be in final arrangement)

Thanks for sharing. Sounds really nice indeed, mainly because the sounds you have used are just beautiful and absorbing in a way. As Daysleeper said there is loads of potential here. I love how the elements and FX come in a play around. Some feedback;

1. Is it just me or does the first version sound like the EQ is better? Anyone else? This new one sounds sharper, more crisp, more modern, less warm etc.

2. Sounding as oldschool as possible is a big win for us. This track feels modern (but done well), like the snapper, crisp percs, (as mentioned above). If you managed to balance the atmospheric and melodic elements with more analog and edgier percs I think it would be a fantastic combo honestly. Even some of the synths too perhaps. Easier said then done I guess.

3. Arrangement still not there for me. I would aim for the 7 minute mark and use other tracks for reference on how they into, build, break, release, return etc.

4. Love the atmospheric, reverby, spaciousness, detailed effects. I wonder if having a moment (breakdown?) where that essence has time to shine and develop, without the percs and whatever else, doing its own thing. Could be something that helps with the arrangement issue mentioned above.

5. Your track is nicely optimistic melodic prog. Would love some darkness, edginess, or melancholic side to create the juxtaposition. In my opinion the best Trance/Prog is when that balance between light/dark, warm/raw is struck.

Take my feedback lightly though. Its your track and you have a vision. I don't know if having others be prescriptive like this is even useful or warranted. I am no producer after all, and just have my own subjective thoughts. That said, I do hear loads of potential and would be willing to sign. Any feedback from @jetflag @Magdelayna @LostLegend @Magnevi would be sweet too.

Has a really nice atmosphere about it - i really dig the female vocal,im not too keen where it gets quite loud in the middle with the synths - i think i wouldve liked it more to keep that laid back prog feel near the start, and add more subtle chords.

Ive followed you on SC!

Hi. Just wanted to ask if you like the track and like @Gagi are interested in having the track with the tf label. ( once finished, ) i think theres still quite a bit to sort on it but the foundation and main elements are there. I actually want to lower the impact on the kick. Potentially ad small reveb or perhaps alter the attack on the kick as it comes out too much i feel. but im gonna sort all levels soon. The middle @Magdelayna was something i threw together quickly arrangement wise and didn’t have time to sort. I definitely feel that there are still some muddy areas where too much kinda un focused sounds kinda clash frequencies but I haven’t yet put my new EQ program vst by Melda on the sounds yet. It seems to add space fairly easily so il replace the eq on them currently with the Melda one.
cheers

Cool man, have read your feedback now. I think you’ve suggested great things. And thank you for the positivity. I think i can give it an older school feel, i dont mind changing some sounds so will give it a go. I have a basstation 2 analog id love to use in it so will add that thickness and older feel.

Cant wait to try these changes.

The eq i think your possibly right. It does sound starker ( may be the mastering i chose) Il investigate it and use my new eq vst by Melda.
Stonedove ( my friend Geoff) who wrote the original ( original has not been posted on trancefix yet) is also getting involved with improving my remix.
We’re very excited about it. 😊

starting the track: first thing that comes to mind = groovy with a bit of 90's

very athmospheric & (old) deep housey more then trance though.

lots of little snippety sounds going on which I personally like, but which others might percieve as too busy.

nice drums in the break, not a clear "rest"moment though. which might be a good thing as most template trance is that. again. its personal.

main criticism might be: main melody isn't very memorable/ wistle-able.

overall verdict: Enjoying what i'm hearing.

I like it.
Really evokes that 90’s prog house feel.

I feel it needs a bit more variation on the groove, maybe play around with some fills, shorter spaces in the drums to add some variation. I am aware it’s a work in progress though!

I like the way all the synths gradually come in, I’d perhaps go with a bit more modulation/automation on some of the synth parameters just to keep everything moving. Having a repetitive bass and synths is fine, but it needs a bit more movement elsewhere to keep everything interesting.

Nice work so far though!

Hey, I think it would be best if we (personally) received updates when the track itself is in the later stages of production (so done or nearly done). Until then, you can just post them here and get feedback from everyone.

Guys. @Hensmon and @Gagi

I belong to the Classic Trance facebook group with over 100,000 members ( including Matt Darey and other big names

I sometimes talk with Binary Finary who run it.

Is it alright to do a post about getting involved and releasing future tracks with Trancefix Records?

If its promotion of the label you would like. It will be seen by thousands and many stars of the classic trance scene.
I thought i would express your underground ethos and aim to promote the ‘Classic Trance style’

i wont post it unless you give permission.

( id just listened to Gatecrasher trance classics cd1 for classic trance inspiration and the matt darey mix of 1998 came on, blew my mind and i had the idea to post on Binary Finary group.

i wont be offended if you dont want me too. But it would be a huge promotion idea if you guys are up for letting me.
Cheers
