I'd like to know how this is a 'not bad remix', it's as generic as they come

It's a pretty standard steroid 138-er with a lot of white noise, but it's surprisingly loyal to the original mix once the breakdown starts. Yeah, the first 2:20 min are whatever and add nothing to the track. The breakdown and climax are precisely what they should be - they're the same as the original mix made with 2021-style synths. No farty bassline/edgy non-melodic climaxes.
It's boring and forgettable, but at least the breakdown + climax are accurate and respect the original.

So it's basically the original track with a bunch of steroids added to it. Got it. It's not BAD, it's just generic. I'd still rather have stuff like this than 2013 EDM-sounding tracks labelled as Trance really. (*cough* Current A&B *cough*)

Like , you rather own a car you dont really like, but it works, more than a car you "hate". Its all out stupid. It makes even less sense in a musical context ofc, than in this car example.
I dont listen to these tracks at all anymore (just wanted to drop the comment). stop posting them please. This if anything should be banned on this site.

no,it isnt - it doesnt have any of the originals complex, powerful, layered synth work - just replaced it with cheap default sounding synths.

I so want to make you a UR mod here... Would save you and me so many negative emotions.
I mean, it speaks wonders that the best we can say about this track is "not bad." 138 trance in general is pretty shit, but there are countless ways this remix could have gone worse.
I still wouldn't listen to it willingly or put it on a playlist.
As for banning remixes of classics (or banning posting bad music): I would in fact be on board with that, haha. When I see a track released by a familiar name or on a familiar label, I generally don't listen to it because 10 out of 10 times it's going to be bad. Give me the underground, new-ish producers doing cool things with the genre instead of trying to sound like John O'Callaghan # 547.

This description sums it up best for me. The generic template copy and paste production kills any soul and feeling in the track. Turns it into a robotic production line factory item.

So would you rather buy a $5K car with a rattling engine and half broken (people calling 2013 EDM-style tracks Trance and advertising them as such so it's mainstream) or a $2K car ("steroid trance" that might have low amounts of effort but can still sound better than the above example) that is in OK condition? I'd rather spend less money but get a better experience.
Yeah, I would hold off on buying until I could afford a better car *unless* I really needed a car to take me from point A to point B for work (ex. If I lived in a rural area in the US). Trance is not a necessity, though, so that caveat does not apply.
So you want to ban almost everything, so this site would remain empty...hey, at least these threads have a discussion and thats what its all about

It's actually not much steroid at all. It's a good thumping kick, but not overly steroid. I just has nothing like a signature from the producer.
The sound of the synth... who made this? John O'Callaghan? Kearney? Atkinson? Allen Watts? Any of the other 138-producers? Could be anyone.
It doesn't sound "bad" per se. The track just offers nothing that makes me think "Ah yes, this (scrolling back to see who made it) Ehren Stowers is such a talent, yes!". No, I couldn't care less who made it, as they all sound the same anyway.
And if you have fun producing this, releasing on a local small label, you know... whatever. Be my guest.
But for a release on the "best" and "most imporant" trance label in the world (it's Armin van Buuren's label...) I expect the best of the best. Not stuff that sounds like I could make myself. Therefor: boring.
