bit dramatic dude....Juno download was one of those shops, much like Audiojelly. that eventually just ran out of business because Beatport we're doing a better job at it. 💁‍♂️

its not the "Death. Dun dun duuuun" of mp3 or downloadable formats or shops by a long shot. 😄

out of the 24 sale platforms my distritributor is attached to. 3 are streaming... rest all download.

Well no one buys off BP either apart from DJs...you can tell this when something ancient like Robert Miles - Children appears in the middle of the Trance charts, cos it sold a couple of copies somewhere...

Sure but No-one ever bought MP3’s from said websites apart from dj’s/ or enthousiasts.. Full stop.

And if anything there’s more “DJ’s” then ever nowadays.. and they don’t en mass use YouTube or Spotify for that..

so clearly that’s not the reason Juno went out of business

Like..can you give me one point in time of “the mp3 era” where the mainstream crowd/your average Joe went on audiojelly or Juno to buy the latest Britney Spears ? 😅

Yeah but what im saying is the use of an MP3 has dwindled so much in recent years due to the rise and rise of streaming and how easy it is.

All the people i know have a phone, connect to speakers using bluetooth and just play playlists on Youtube....i still back my view that we are seeing the death of MP3 downloads, across the board...it happened with CDs. I cant go into a main street store like HMV anymore and buy Trance on CD...or indeed Vinyl.

Yeah, theres been a mini revival, but its only for the enthusiast collectors. It makes me sad that i only bought Trance on CD for 6 years of my whole life 🤣🤣

yes, and what i'm saying is. that is virtually irrelevant for óur scene, as opposed to say: Country Rock, given how most enthousiasts still prefer to posses rather then stream...if only for the practical purpose of Djíng.

sure..in the grand sceme of things streaming is the new rock (hell, you're pretty much the most financial succesfull out of all of us here on that front) .But not for Trance/house/tech or any other DJ rich genre that Juno (used to), Beatport or Bandcamp thrive on.

so "teh Death of Mp3" as in downloadable mediums.. is tad bit doomscrolling if you ask me, especially in the context of our niche ;)

i see what you mean, but i dont just mean DJs using them - i mean the general public downloading artists tracks - if i look at my SC stats - downloads in 2019 = 7,500.....downloads last year = 700.

And its been drastically reducing every year...

So its something i felt has been on the demise for a while, and this latest Juno thing is another thing that adds to it.

But all this is NO surprise anyway...times change....it was obvious streaming would take over.

Juno was ran very shitty and never did anything to break that status quo - yeah

Beatport, however, is next to fall in the coming years and it's not managed much better, in recent weeks they had a lot of issues with the website accessibility so I guess they already experiencing some issues

and after that, there's virtually nothing left. Bandcamp's share on the market could be classified as a statistical error

I use a combo of streaming and actually buying music. I still like to own certain tracks/albums digitally (i don't buy cd's or vinyl). Streaming doesnt always have certain tracks or onl;y in radio edits or mix cuts or on moment you can play a track and the next time it's greyed out because it was pulled or something.
I used Juno all the time for relases not on Bandcamp so was a bit shocked when i just now i wanted to check some releases.
