I really liked this, particularly liked the slowed down lead in the breakdown. Nothing groundbreaking, but the older Chicane sound front and centre, though a bit less finessed. A lot of his recent productions have really lacked sub frequencies in the bass though, this included.

yeah makes the beat sound too flat, apart from that probably the only of his new tracks that isn't a waste of time
I assume you likely have, but just in case…. check out ‘watching over me’, ‘summer in E Major’, ‘Freefall’, ‘the sleepless year’ and ‘one foot in the past, one foot in the future’.
These are a welcome return to something very close to the ‘Behind the Sun’ album. Pretty much everything after that until recently was awful. I was magnificently disappointed where Chicane went, as his first/early stuff when I was a teenager was so formative; ‘Far from the maddening crowds’ remains one of my favourite albums of all time.
I found those new ones via his Cafe Mambo Sun:Sets 500 set which is excellent

I like all these tracks you've mentioned, they do show something different from the scene, and I like it.
