Got a soft spot for this track too.

Why was it so easy for producers to make great Trance back then, and such an impossible task for producers today? This is such a simple track, but it works. They just 'got it', what it means to make good music.

I dont think its that "simple". On the surface maybe but it has quite alot going on at the same time. I think its a pretty clever production actually. Everything just sits right, the layering is amazing, the fx/samples are on point, the rhythms are effective, creative and driving. They add the right amount of things at the right time and take them away at the right time whitch resulting in a dynamic production.

98% of modern "Trance" lacks this thing called finesse. This has it.

I feel the same way about Armin's (let's say especially post-2000) works. He just had a feel of where everything should be, when an element should be taken away or added, a way of keeping everything in harmony where nothing stands out too much, yet everything has its place. Not terribly experimental, you just knew where everything was going to be and what to expect, but you still loved it. Impeccable arrangement skills.

This track though, ok but not what I'm looking for. Can't say that I like it.

Its the other way....To acheive this track is much harder then making a modern generic track.

Maybe simple was the wrong word. But it feels effortless... the main track idea doesn't try too hard. Really its just the same guitar loop and key change at the core (ok stunning breakdown too). But it just feels like producers could tap into a musicality and just make ANYTHING work, that they just understood how to assemble ideas in ways that worked. I wouldnt be surprised if we found out they made this track in 1 week honestly.
