I don't think Trump is genuinely in on it. The oligarchs realized Trump is too fucking stupid and *will* tank the economy if allowed to proceed with his tariffs. They are trying to get rid of him as soon as possible.
Who are these oligarchs you speak of?

I am amazed that they appointed a person with absolutely no medical background for public health for vaccines. Trump fired the head person which he appointed just 1 month ago as well. So, why did he appoint her?

No, not him of course he has no medical background. But, I was referring to Jim O'Neil

ah gotcha.

well you've just introduced me to the story so no comment on that matter, but concerning not appointing a position of policy making/ executing to someone who doesn't have a (technical or theoretical) background on x matter. Here's my 2 cents.

I actually see this "technocratic'ish" sentiment a lot and I genuinely, and with respect to the people holding it (your opinion is yours), think its a bit bollocks. 🤷‍♂️

The big problem with the idea of "a background having expert in the field" somehow therefor making a great policy maker, manager or leader in x subject, is that more often than no the problem of To a Hammer everything is a nail.

What is an expert? An expert is an average bloke like you or me who just happens to know an ittipitty more about a horrendously specific subject, which he/she has spent the formative best years of life devoted to, and who’s entire financial and status situation is dependent on. That sets the stage for blindspotting and biases

When you are dealing with (fairly) broadstroke political or organisational conundrums what you don’t want is an expert. What you need is a general(ist), someone who can see the overall picture, someone who can lead. And then that guy or gal can have “experts” around him if you must. (Not saying Jim O'neill is this person perse, by the way)

The CEO of the contractor I work for runs the company and its people brilliantly from contract to contract and to profitable annual quarters consistently, and has never touched a shovel in his life or has any technical knowhow of how Dreding, Monopiling, or pouring concrete works.

Well, that sucks I didn't expect that. Sad to see that someone with opposing political opinion was assassinated.

I din't think that conservatism and liberalism necessarily negate one each other, but if we take it into the surface of left and right, I'd say neither. We have too many and too different problems to apply only one or the other solution. We gotta apply some complex and systematic measurements based on what's best at certain issue

They are not, they are both liberalism.

the difference is mainly in the school of liberalism. (Locke v Rousseau )

We have yet to see how did it and why. In any case Kirk’s murderer might have very well underestimated the martyr factor here. Kirk was very much at his zenith when it happened.

in either case RIP and strength to his wife and two young daughters 🙏

Hope all you folks based out in the US stay safe, the whole place seems like a tinder box at the moment. 🙁
It's fine. Life goes on as the usual. You just kind of have to stay out of political demonstrations or anything politically charged. It's not like someone is going to shoot up a (higher-end, non-Walmart) grocery store.
Previously, the victims of American gun violence were high school kids. Now it just happens to be a high-profile right wing podcaster. I know which victim I'd feel bad for, but tbh at this point I'm numb to these things.

Everyone slinging so much shit towards Mandami, but who else were the left meant to vote for? The alternative Cuomo is a complete schmuck. Criminal through and through, and I'm saying this as a conservative and a New Yorker. No integrity, no ideas. Just an Israel ass-licker that bends to any lobby that gives him money. If that's your only option your picking Mandami. He's got some whack ideas but he does care about new york and actually talks about the problems here. I wish we had better choices but this is politics today in the US.

I’m of the opinion that the dems/ American left have 0 suitable candidates, full stop.

so I don’t blame the left for voting for yet another “real socialism has never been tried” mayor. If only to push back at semi mobster-boomers like cuomo.
