The sound very okayish.

The melody in the upper one is one we've heard hundreds of times with a slight variation. Not very exciting beatwork wither.

The lie sounds like a typical very decent/good activa clone. I like it, but not stoked about it.

Both good, typical Borderline lack of adventure, but I like the sound. The Lie is really good.

The pads in Subterfuge are so haunting and beautiful. It's what really makes the track stand out for me. The riff is epic and well constructed to go with the pads too. It sounds very much like a late 90s Gatecrasher style production. Not surprising as Slipstream, aka George Winkworth, was producing back then under his Atlantis alias. Can't wait for the full version.

Both awesome, but the Lie is my favourite from the two.

Both tracks are exactly what you can expect from a Borderline release. I do have a preference for Subterfuge as it paints a more haunting, melancholic mood and it's arrangement is also more complex given the 10 track time. That main lead in The Lie though!

Initially, my amateur ears fell in instant love with The Lie but now Subterfuge seems like a slow grower with the 9min journey and definitely better than The Lie however overall release is a gold masterpiece I'd love to own this on vinyl as my first ever vinyl I'm going to ask Activa for the possibility.

Gave subterfuge an honest go. I do like the build, and the small subtle fx/synth choiches it contains etc, but im not a fan of that mainlead at all, its a very cliched melody chord progression and the synth choice is a typical stock trance preset, at least as I hear it. The boomy bassline isnt a fav of mine either.

When it was all over though, there wasnt that much to it. I like it up until 2-3-4 min in. I like that they tried a 9 min more subtler approach but the execution and instruments of choice and lasting impression arent that strong/memorable/likable/different. It also explodes in the drop too bigroom:y and the climax vs the subltle parts are too extreme in comparasion imo. Alot of basic trance-pack-presets in terms of drums/bass/percusion choice imo, and i think that is what makes me not apprciate it more. Its execution and choice of instruments are too formulaic and too"basic" for me.

The Lie, despite its shorter length /arrangentment is the superior one here imo, easily even id say. Still though, pretty middle-of-the-road release.
